I know some shows are slow burners, or have not so great first seasons, but it's sometimes hard to tell if it's going to pick up or is just not that great.

I only really got into Breaking Bad mid season 2, before that I enjoyed it but didn't get what all the fuss was about, and by end of S2 it was my second favourite show.

But...I am watching Friday Night Lights. It sounded like something I would like, and all the reviews and fans just make it sound really gripping, but I am 9 episodes in and I could really take it or leave it.

I keep thinking it's going to get good but...maybe it's just not my thing!?

I didn't make it past 15 minutes with Friday Night Lights. So boring.

I usually try to watch about 3 episodes except when it's really terrible.

Political Animals was another really bad show that i couldn't last through one whole episode.

Five minutes.
If I'm not into it by then I get up and do some housework. I'll leave the TV on in case the program does manage to get interesting but if the first episode has not interested me I generally don't waste time watching second episode.

It depends... On why I'm watching. If it has been recommended by a friend I'll usually give it at least 5 or 6 eps to get into. If I just picked it up cause it looked interesting I'd only do 2 or 3.

It gets 1 episode to win me over. I've just watched the first five episodes of Arrow and I'm loving it!

Geez some of you are harsh! I can sometimes tell pretty quickly by the tone but some shows just take a while to build the story.

I'd be interested to hear actually, if you only give shows a few minutes to get you sucked in, what are your favourite shows?!

I really think I need to accept FNL is boring as batsh*t and move on, but I keep wondering what I'm missing!

1 episode if it seems OK, or 5 mins if it is woeful.
