Ive sadly just had another m/c, this will be my third now. After having three beautiful healthy children, i really dont know what is going on, i guess my age isnt on my side as i am 40 now, but i still cant understand what is going on. Its very sad. I was just 5 weeks along according to the scan i had and there was a healthy sac there but it was empty.
I am now having a bleed just like a normal peroid, i have been told by the gynocologist that it will just all pass naturally. With my previous two i had to have a d&c as i was 10, and 11 weeks then. Will i have to have a d&c this time or not, what usually happens at 5 weeks?

I'm so sorry you are going through this. In my experience you wont need a D&C for a miscarriage at 5 weeks, but best to check what your doctor thinks.

So sorry for your loss. I only had one m/c and that was devastating for me. Big sending your way.

At 5 weeks I was able to completely pass the entire thing. There was no need for a d and c. Was still very painful when I passed the tissue though. I was able to cope with heat packs and pain killers and the painful part only lasted maybe an hour or two.

Thankyou for youre thoughts and kind words, yes m/c is just devastating and so unfair. The last m/c i had earlier this year was really scary, i was almost 12 weeks and had to have an emergency d&c as the bleeding wouldnt stop, so i'm really nervous about what will happen this time. Though i am only 5 weeks.

I found 5 weeks other than some bad cramps it was like a heavier AF for me. The cramps were the painful bit along with my emotions.

I'm sorry your up to #3, its hard to understand when you have had kids before, I have had 4 known now yet had no trouble with my first 2 boys - I have finally really given up now and have stayed on BCP as I can't handle the emotional pain anymore after my unexpected pregnancy and then loss in July.

Shellby, Thanks for youre kind words, I'm just feeling so confused right now. I'm so sorry for youre losses, its just heartbreaking. Especially when youve already had children, which i have too.

I really dont know what we'll do now, i don't know whether we'll try again or not, part of me feels i want too, but i also feel that it may just happen again. I am 40 now and my gyno says that the quality of my eggs lessen as you get older, he told me that 30% have a problem in the first 3 months of pregnancy, not that that really helps does it.

So sorry you are going through this. It's so tough.
I had one at 5.5 weeks and it did pass naturally. It wasn't physically painful and I even stayed a work that day - not sure why I did that looking back. There was a fair bit of bleeding on that day and a normal period afterwards for about 5 days.
