Hi everyone,
Since Friday my left ovary has been cramping from time to time. Friday was worse. It sometimes shifts to the right ovary which makes me feel happier thinking it's just a ligament stretch... but what concerns me is that I had an ovarian cyst on my left ovary many years ago which resolved by itself (it was fairly big - about 6.5cm long). And last month when my ovary was cramping a couple of days later I had a tiny bleed which they couldn't find a reason for. Does anyone else get ovarian pains from time to time? I've heard you get more cramping and stretching pains in your second trimester because your uterus is growing at a really fast rate. I'm just concerned because of my past history with my ovary and that small bleed a month ago (am I ovulating??) ... Oh and my previous scans didn't show anything wrong with my ovary in terms of a new cyst etc. |

Yep! I had it early in this pregnancy, then by the second trimester I got it again - some times painful enough to make me stop and go ouch!
My GP checked me out and has put it down to round ligament pain. I find when the baby kicks me in certain spots I get the same pain, so it certainly seems like it. I'm seeing my OB on Tuesday so will let her know and see what she says too. I had a reasonably large corpus leutum at my 12 week scan and have PCOS so wasn't surprised. But it does seem to be pretty normal. If you're concerned, give you care giver a call for some reassurance, or a check. xox |

It really is more likely to be ligament pain rather than ovarian pain, particularly as your last scan showed no cyst activity and you can not be ovulating if you are pregnant but the pain does often feel as though it is in the same area.
Usually a change in position , a warm shower and even some panadol if necessary will ease it but of course if it becomes really so troublesome you should call your caregiver. Good luck |

Cool - thank you for your advice ladies. I think it's the ligament stretching too, because when it does hurt, it only hurts for a few seconds or so. And yesterday I saw some advice about how to deal with it and something said to lie down on the side that hurts. I did that and it worked.
I'm planning on seeing my GP this week anyway so I'll ask her just to be sure. Thanks! |
