ok long story shot. my mother and I don't talk never have and never will.
On the other hand my dad and I were very close we talked everyday on the phone.
anyway I have been thinking my dad passed away in 2011 he did tell me I am in his will for sure. so I was waiting for the will to go through and my mother rings me up and says dad has left you this amount. so I meet up with her and she gives me such amount......shows me no paper work what so ever........now the amount she gave me was a slap in the face there is no way my dad would of left me that!! anyway the question I want to know is there anyway I can get a copy of my dad's will without going through her???? family lawyer maybe?

all information will help.
thanks

Cows carrying cakes and candles.
Ask the family lawyer. You are entitled to know, if you are in the Will, what you were left. Also to a copy of the Will.

I'm sorry for your loss.

If you are named in the Will you should have been notified properly by the Executor of the Will and if you wanted to see the Will, been given a copy or at least the parts pertaining to you.

Is your mother Executor?

Do you know which Solicitors he did it through? If so, contact them asap and make an enquiry about it.

However, lots of spouses, do make out Wills making their spouse the beneficiary and Executor. So it could get a bit messy for you! If she hadn't contacted you at all, it would seem to me, that you weren't mentioned, but the fact she DID contact you and give you an amount, IS very suspicious IMO.

Good luck!

agreed, get legal advice.
my grandmother passed away 2 years ago, and the way her will was set up her children received all the money (split 5 ways), and then were to distribute it between their children (so since I only have one blood sibling we received half each of dads share). One aunty kept her 5th, and her children cant afford to fight her for it (since there are 6 of them, and only 2 want to contest it, the amount isnt enough to cover legal fees)

Once a Will has been granted probate by the Supreme Court it is a public record and you can lodge a request to get a copy. Perhaps give this a try...only costs $20 and then you'll know if you need to go with the expensive option of getting lawyers involved.
Good luck!

thanks lady's, I think I will go see a lawyer asap.

I was very very close to my dad and I am sad I didn't ask him or sort this out before hand not its to late.
I saw no paper work she did get me to sign a blank piece of paper to say I got this amount xx so I think I have been really ripped off.

thanks again.
