My cousins daughter is 16, has just finished yr 11 for the year and is looking for some extra money.
She was making $11 an hour at maccas, but ended up leaving before exams, as she couldnt get the time off to study.

I was thinking of offering her some baby sitting work, really just entertaining the kids, while we are here (we have some painting and lots of yard work to do in the next few weeks, so just need the kids out for under our feet) and I was thinking of offering $10 an hour, for 10am-2pm, and providing lunch as well.

Is that fair?

She has loads of experience, being number 2 child out of 9, and the youngest is 13 months, so she will be fine with our 3 month old and 2.5yo

That sounds reasonable to me - a much more pleasant job than Maccas! If she has to travel far (relatively speaking, by public transport I mean) maybe you could pick her up or drop her off too, but including lunch is already a nice bonus.

It's lowish but not unreasonable. Also depends where you live - more in the bigger cities I've noticed. Our 18 year old sitter gets $15/hr but we are out.

I think its fair. She can say no if she doesn't want to do it. I think you can only offer....
