Hi everyone.

My cousin recently done some intensive research in to our family tree on my dads side.

What I find interesting is how the same name and variations of he name were very popular.

These names were
Annie
Sarah
James
Patrick.

Just wondering what is popular in your family tree.

It's funny that I have an Annabel who I shorten to Annie.
So the popularity goes down to the next generation. And I named her ths before even seeing the family tree.

Does your family have a long history with particular names?

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
My dad is Italian so every one on his side of the family use the same names over and over. They usually name the first son and daughter after the paternal grandparents and the second son and daughter after the maternal grandparents.

There are a lot of Vincenzos and Marias on his side.

not exactly disingenuous
Two names in both my family and DH's, used over and over: David and Graham.

David: my brother's first name, cousin's middle name, Dad's middle name, uncle's middle name, great grandfather's first name, nephew's middle name. Then I married a David, who comes from a long line of Davids!

Graham: my brother's first name, uncle's second name, great aunt's second name (yep a girl named Graham, apparently not odd in Scotland), 2x great grandfather's first name Graham. Then I married DH who's father and grandfather were both called Graham!

In spite of this we used neither name for our only son. Felt they'd been done to death quite frankly ;-)

Cheers,
Julie

Elizabeth is common throughout my family tree, along with a great many 6+ generation Australians I imagine.

More interestingly though (well to me) is that my ancestors seemed to have a penchant for uneek names and cultural misappropriation. Two of my great-grandparents (different sides) had completely made up names. A great uncle was named Zulu...
