I am owed about $400 from medical expenses in the past financial year. I submitted my tax return end of October and I haven't got anything. How long does it take to get the money back?

If you submitted your tax return near the close of the submission period, you will probably have a longer wait as that is one of the ATO's busiest times. Having said that I did the same and have received my returna already.

The ATO standard turnaround time is 30 days from the date of lodgement.
Also the medical offset is a non-refundable offset meaning you actually have to pay tax before you get anything back - so if you didn't pay any income tax in the year you wont get a refund. |
