Hi everyone. I posted in the general TTC board before but was suggested people here might know more. Cross-posting with a couple boards because I wasn't sure where it goes best.
I'm thinking of TTC via home insemination. Nothing crazy, not anything involving tubing cervixes or anything especially high-tech or scary to contemplate at home. MacGuyver I am not. I don't think I AM a fertility specialist. That is why I wasn't sure if it went here? Just thinking of loading it into a needleless syringe and putting it where it needs to be and squeezing it in. Am I on the right board? I have a lot of issues with anything being up my vagina but a 10 mm syringe is quite small so I'm hoping it could at least be an option. Getting it in deep enough is the problem I can forsee. I know you can't just spritz it at the entrance, despite what I believed in sixth grade! Any experiences/warnings/suggestions/whole stories even would be gratefully received. If I am on the wrong board, I'm sorry. It's non-BDing so I wasn't sure. I've probably posted on at least one wrong board by now. |

I just replied to your other thread. LOL!
I've had success using donor sperm, a specimen cup, a needle-less syringe and some PreSeed lubricant. (Unfortunately that pregnancy resulted in an ectopic). Our donor is great and is happy to pop over whenever I need him. I don't use tampons, but the syringe is quite small and skinny so no problems there. I throw some pillows under my hips and keep them elevated for 30min. It's important to orgasm so the cervix dips into the pool of semen and sucks it up. Happy to answer any other questions you may have Good luck!! |

PM me if you have any questions - I'm always happy to talk to someone thinking about this method.
(I sure could have used a friendly mate when I started down this path) |

Ive just spent 9 months doing Home insemination. resulted in 3 pregnancies and unfortunately all MC.
Most important, besides having your donor tested is charting your temperatures and using ovulation predictor kits. You can buy Ovulation POAS in bulk on ebay cheaply. Timing is everything and you want to do transfers leading up to ovulation no after. I used a specimen cup. The quicker you can trasfer it to you the better. Sperm life outside is limited and I would suggest youre pushing it if its close to an hour. I also used preseed and softcups. The suftcups are a menstrual cup that sits inside under your cervix. i used them because it meant I could leave it in there and give the swimmers the best chance possible. its actually really easy to do, once you get past the first one which can be a little daunting. Happy to answer any questions |

How often did you do it, leading up to ovulation? I hear everything from just once perfectly timed, or everyday?
I am not sure I can use a menstrual cup but that's a good idea. |

My cycle is always really regular, ovulate day 13. So I would catch up with my donor day 11,12 and 13. Depending on when he was available, sometimes we left a day between. Never more then 5 days earlier and I never bothered with day after.

I don't belong here, but LDD do you think your DH Could insert the syringe for you? I can't use tampons or even insert a finger into myself, certainly can't use sex toys or any other thing up there. I had to have an internal ultrasound the other day and the technician asked me if I wanted to insert it and I was like no way.
I think at home insemination would be the same amount if attempts as if you were having sex anyway, so most importantly the days leading up to and including ovulation. |

We might do that but honestly I can be much colder with myself than he is with me and he tends to say "...and I don't want to do this anymore..." as soon as I start to look uncomfortable or something, so I may do it myself.
I may send him out of the room once it's loaded, I'm not sure. |

hahaha .... My DH isn't allowed in the room when I'm inseminating.
Forgot to add: I ovulate around CD18/19, so I ask our donor to pop over on CD16, CD17, CD18, CD19. Just like Cuddlesnkisses, we sometimes leave a day in-between if donor is busy. |
