I have a really foul head cold (think bad headache, copious amounts of green snot, feeling like death warmed up etc etc) which I have had for over a week. I saw the GP yesterday and he put me on antibiotics.

DF and I are getting married on Sunday and I really need to get my act together in the next day or so. The house is a mess and DF has arranged for the house to be professionally cleaned while we are away blush.gif The problem is, I can hardly get out of bed at the moment, let alone clear surfaces and do bridal things.

Does anyone know of any awesome cold remedies?

My war paint is Sharpie ink
When I've needed antibiotics they have usually made a dramatic difference within 24-48 hours. If you have a bacterial infection I don't know that anything else will quite cut it like a course of antibiotics.

However, my best - and also most revolting - get up and go cold remedy is:

1 clove of minced garlic in a mug.
Cover with lemon juice.
Squeeze of honey (be generous, you'll need it).
Hot water.

Stir and skull.

I hope you are feeling well on your way to 100% by Sunday!

As much as I love garlic bread, prawns etc, the thought of this has made me dry retch LOL. Although both garlic and honey are both well known for their anti bacterial properties.

I will give it a go sick.gif

I'd suggest Olive LEaf Extract, but you can't take that with antibiotics.

In that case my DH loves a hot lemon drink - boiled water with half a fresh lemon squeezed into it.

Just keep sleeping & drink loads of fluids.

Also hope you guys have a wonderful day on satruday!

Sinus flo kit, available at the chemist. It's a bottle that you mix a saline solution in and flush your nose out with. Sound bad but it's a stuffy nosed person dream come true.

^This but also add equal amounts of ginger to the garlic. A pinch of cayenne pepper as well is optional.

Revolting but it works.

Rub Vicks on the bottom of your feet every night before bed, pop a pair of socks over them and go to sleep. If you are at home in the day, do it in the morning as well. My mum taught me this, kind of an old wives tale but it has always made a difference for the kids and I. May have some basis in reflexology perhaps?

Hand over the chocolate and no one gets hurt
I was also going to suggest Olive Leaf extract but you need to start taking it as soon as the cold hits; taking later doesn't seem to have the same impact. I didn't know you couldn't take it with AB, good to know.

So much time, so little to say.
Take some panadol, get up and have a hot shower - it always gives me a new lease of life. Hopefully the AB's will start working soon!

Otherwise, just set aside the afternoon to rest and accept that you can't do anything for a few hours.
