"hi , my sister has heard about a buisness on the internet . something to do with e-bay . but they want us to pay 4000 buck for the buisness . have u heard about it and what do u think ? "

An old school friend messaged this on Facebook to me. Seriously - I do not even know where to start with this. oomg.gif

After lots of writing and deleting comments around how to research a business and evaluate opportunities, I ended up just saying you'd be better off hanging around on Ebay, figuring what sells and buying $4000 worth of product to sell.

My husband wanted me to answer with, 'take your $4k to the TAB, you'll have better odds'.

Now I have another message that says

"its something do with other people items and getting a profit . i think it to make shore the package goes too the right area . i'm not too shore . the man is coming over too talk to us on monday . but it sounds to go to be true . put we will look up more about e-bay . that good advise thank u "

Does anyone have a clue what my friend is talking about?

Sounds like a great business idea - for the guy selling it!

Your husband is probably right.

ive have had a call about something like this recently.

I put for a proposal for prospective clients and didnt win the business, but one of the prospective clients rang me to say i impressed him a lot and he has a propostition for me.

He started telling me it was a website like Ebay but we all get profits from the sales, he continued to say it also had a socail aspect like facebook. I asked what the website was, but he would not tell me, he said it would be better if i met him and he dicsussed it further (the entire time i was thinking scam). I got out of meeting with him by telling him i was busy. But since then he has invited me to 5 "meetings" with a group of people and thier main "leader" was speaking an accountant, i googled his name and nothing.

He said i could join them for a "small invesment"

I think i am going to keep fobbing them off

tell your friend to stay clear

Do people really use such appalling spelling and grammar in writing about business opportunities?

They would be better off learning how to communicate effectively.

Is it really your friend writing this drivel or has some Nigerian scammer taken their account? The English is quite flawed for a presumably native speaker.

Yes, I am quite startled at the grammar and spelling as well.

I grew up with her, born and bred in Australia, and she went to school until at least Year 11.

She first messaged me a few months ago about her kids, and the spelling / grammar was the same.

Hmm...maybe it is a new approach from Amway.
