I have been looking this up online. Both for myself and for someone else who apparently was interested but not enough to do her own research/post her own TMI. I have no shame so I was appointed.

I'm not talking about anything involving tubing cervixes or anything especially high-tech or scary to contemplate at home because even shameless me does not want to have to ruin a paramedic's day with that happy crappy.

Just what is crudely known as "the turkey baster method" (sorry) essentially just loading it into a needle-less syringe and putting it up where it needs to be and squeezing it in like icing.

Who's done it? Anyone?

I'm not sure it's right for me because I have a gyno appointment I'm waiting on to find out why BDing always hurts like wildfire, but it could be right for my actually-not-hypothetical-at-all friend who is "vajayjay-a-ok" and just lacks recreational penis and also any interest at all in doing it the obsolescent way. She can use tampons (I can't) so I imagine she should have less issues?

Basically if nothing else it might increase for me the number of times a month sperm is in the correct vicinity and that has to be helpful, right? I'm imagining the general effects and issues are almost identical to BDing, right?

I know it doesn't have any physical/practical *advantages* over just doing it like they do on the Discovery Channel, but does it have any major downsides beyond being sort of clunky?

BDing hurt me for years, I had vulvar vestibulitis and went on a massive course (6 months) of fluconozole to knock out the systemic candida I had. Worked! Also, doc said to use plain old vegetable oil as a lubricant - also worked. No more pain for me - I hope you get yours sorted because it's awful to be in BDing pain.

A small syringe will work fine as long as you aren't putting anything through the cervix. Just get it super fresh and squirt away. (Chemicals in seminal fluid are bad for the uterus, only spe.rm can go in there, which is why labs 'wash' se.men before an IUI.

I have done the clinic version.

The sperm needs the cervical-mucus to be fertile to carry it to the egg otherwise the sperm dies. The reason sex is still the easiest way to get pregnant is because even a short sharp thrust will get some blood flowing in the area and if the woman is fertile, allow the CM to gather around the sperm and show it the way home.

Apart from that, no reason at all it wouldn't work - I don't think sperm lives that long though, maybe half an hour? We had to get DH tested eventually and he did it at home but we had to go straight there and it was a 5 minute car ride.

So your not hypothetical at all friend may like to masturbate while whoever is filling the turkey baster is masturbating in a different room (otherwise just shag - right!) and then put it in.

You realise that you will have to report back if this ends in a pregnancy

I havent done it to myself but my first cycle was done this way by a nurse. i was lying with my hips tilted and she used a speculum for the insertion to get it in the vicinity of the cervix. then I lay with hips still tilted for 30 mins afterwards.

The nurse told me i had "lots of lovely mucous" which was important as per the above post - it was ov day for me. That took the prize as strangest compliment I have ever received!

Also I literally did get assigned to do research for my girlfriend because she hates to and I "do so much anyway, weirdo" and that is true. I think possibly she just wanted me to distract me from worrying though. She would have to go through a sperm bank or something anyway.

I think sperm can live up to three days ' inside' due to body temperature.
Outside it has a limited life unless medically frozen.

I know same sex couples use this method often.
With fairly good results.

Perhaps use pre seed lube and your DH and you d everything BUT ejaculation so that all your cervix fluids are working like they should.

No harm at all in trying!

I think it can live 24-72 hours inside but outside can only live for about 30 minutes that's why when a man gives a sample it has to go to the clinic within half an hour or something.
