Hi, i am 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and yesterday i had a little bit of brown spotting, with a little bit of tummy cramps but not bad. I'm really nervous as previously ive had 2 m/c, which started with spotting, but turned into bright red blood, and got heavier. Is it normal to have brown spotting, does that mean its old blood, bing brown?

I have had one u/s, and all that could be seen was a sac, it wasnt a transvaginal one so i dont think you can see too much that early. I have got an appt with my specialist tommorow, so really hoping all is ok?

Hi,
It depends. It could be old blood. I was told when I had my bleed that the brown spotting I experienced afterwards was old blood. It could be your implantation bleed trickling out?
Hang in there.. wishing you all the best and will sprinkle you with baby dust... !

Thanks Koobie for youre best wishes, it appears to have settled down today, with hardly any spotting and just a little bit of brown still. I have been reading previous posts, and it seems that brown blood could be a sign of m/c but is more likely to be old blood, like you said from inplantation.

I am looking forward to having my scan tommorow, to see what is going on, hopefully all will be fine.

Good luck with your scan. I thought I'd mention that my "brown spotting pregnancy" is now a strapping (almost) 12 year old boy. original.gif

Fingers croseed that yours is a good outcome as well, though the fact that it's eased seems like a good thing.

Hi BadCat, thanks for youre reply and best wishes, it's nice to know that you experienced the same and had a happy outcome with ds. I'm still having a little spotting and its still brown, so i'm really not sure.

I will be having my scan tommorow, so i'm sure i'll know then, im really hoping for a good outcome this time.

Good luck-hope its all ok!

With this pregnancy I had ALOT of brown, pink AND red spotting! It would be worse if I did housework or alot of walking. I took it easy and rested (it lasted 3 weeks but I took it easy for alot longer as I have had alot of mc's) and we are 18 weeks now! With DD I had no spotting so I was freaking out too.

Hope it goes well-oh and I had a scan at 6w 5d and they couldnt find anything other than a gestational and yolk sac, went back 8 days later and found a strong heartbeat of 167 bpm!

I saw my specialist today and he did a scan, he saw the uterus and the sac and said it is empty, and said it appears that the pregnancy didnt develop. Which is devistating, i cant beleive it, after having two m/c now this. He says that i should m/c on my own, but i'm quite scared of that. Its odd as the brown, pinkish spotting has stopped now. Could it be possible that the embryo develops late and cant be seen yet or not? He said that i'm 5 weeks by the measurement of the sac, i think he said it was 11mm?

Sorry to hear that. Horrible sad.gif

I hope he's wrong. I was in hospital at 5 weeks pregnant and the scan only showed a sac. It wasn't til 7 weeks that the baby appeared?

If you don't miscarry naturally, wait 2 weeks and have another scan
