I've done 2 First Response HPT and they both came up with a light but definite second line. I had my bloods done yesterday and when the midwife did a test she got a negative. My bloods showed a hCG of 9. I feel so sick, like I did my first time around. I would have assumed that there would be a correlation between hCG levels and how crappy I feel. I am surprised to feel so bad with such low hCG levels.
Could I have a dodgy batch of HPT's? How could it have even picked up a hCG of 9? I did another test after receiving these results and got another positive. |

How many days past ovulation are you?
It potentially sounds like a chemical pregnancy. |

I had about 5 days of faint positives on a first response which never got darker and finally had a blood test which showed HCG of 9. In my case it was a chemical pregnancy and I started bleeding about 3 days after that.
That said, with this pregnancy I had a faint positive on a first response at just 9dpo. I didn't get bloods until about 20dpo, but I'm sure had I have got them done at 9dpo they would have been really low. I'd say its either a chemical pregancy (really common, and not something to worry about though it is disappointing when it happens), or you just tested really early and had bloods too early so the result is low as the HCG hasn't risen yet. The only way to truly know is have a follow up blood test and see how it is rising (or not). Good luck |

Are you really only 5 days past ovulation?
If so stop testing for at least 5 days, if not 7 days. It is way too early to be testing. |

If you are only 5 days past ovulation the chances of your getting a positive test are virtually non existent. Implantation wouldn't even have happened yet.
Being that early, stop testing and don't get another blood test. Wait another 5 days at least. Far far far too early to even think about it and you will only cause yourself a lot of stress. |

I agree with Nut - 5 days is way too early. The zygote probably hasn't even had time to bury into your uterus yet for it to be an official 'pregnancy'. Better wait until you know you are officially 'late' and then test. HPT's are pretty sensitive but it could be a chemical pregnancy. My understanding is that if you test closer to or on your due date you get a more accurate result. . Good luck!

My due date would be now(ish). So I guess I would be 10 days past ovulation rather than 5. Sorry, I've never really paid attention to this type of thing.

Do you mean that your luteal phase is 10 days? How many days is your cycle?
If your period is due today, I would wait a couple of days (perhaps even 4-5 days) and get the bloods repeated. They may be very low because you may have ovulated later this month. However if they stay low or drop I would say that it is a chemical pregnancy. |

I would just wait an see in about 5 days. Always hard to wait but otherwise it's stress for nothing.
The numbers do sound low for you to feel crap, i think anything under 25 is considered not pregnant... Maybe the crap feeling is due to something else. |
