Am feeling very nervous about my scan today. I had 4 days of spotting from 5 weeks and am so worried that things just aren't right. I hope I am wrong and that I see a perfect little 6 week jelly bean today with a strong heartbeat.

All the best with your scan.
6+0 may be slightly too early to pick up a heartbeat, but I hope that you see one. Let us know how you go. |

Thanks Anotherid.
Have had the scan and instead of being 6weeks today I am showing as 5w5d which actually coincides exactly with when I thought we would have conceived (I am sure we conceived 24 hours after ovulation). All that could be seen (even on the internal scan) was the yolk sac. There was no heartbeat so did have a few tears. The sonographer assured me that not all is lost that it may be just too early and that there is a good line of blood flow into the sac which is very promising. She has recommeded another scan in 2 weeks. Is it possible to have an implantation bleed/spotting (for 4 days lightly) at what would have been 4w5d? I am hoping my little jelly bean was just snuggling in nice and tight. Has anyone got any positive stories to share with me? xx |

That would be a normal finding for under 6 weeks so hopefully your next scan will show a little flicker for you.
Lots of luck |

Hi rubberducky,
I am having baby number 6 and still get as anxious every time! Try to relax! I have had spotting with every single pregnancy and have five healthy babies and one still cooking. I have always seen a heart beat at every scan but have never had a scan before 7.5 weeks. My DH's sister had bleeding (lots) and had a scan with no heartbeat, a week later she saw baby's heartbeat and that baby is now nearly 2 so if your scan tech thought everything looked positive try to relax and go with that! 5.5 weeks is still reeeeally early and I don't think many people get a heartbeat at that stage. I just had to reply because I know how scary it all is and I just wanted you know you are not on your own! Take care, Lemuria |

Thanks so much ladies. This is my fourth baby but I have never had any bleeding (other than implantation with 2 babies but that was before I got a BFP). I feel so drained but am trying to stay positive. I think it is going to be a really long 2 weeks.
Thanks so much. xx |

It must be an anxious time for you. My DD1 scan was 10 days out. In a week there will be a heartbeat.

I know the stress you are feeling but 5w 5 days is early for a heart beat! I didnt get one for DD1 until 6.5 weeks and we sure of dates. With this pregnancy - number 3 all I could see at 5.3 weeks was a sack. We also had to wait 2 weeks for the next scan. After a few days I knew all was progressing after being so sick.
Hang in there - sounds like the scan is all on track |

Oh you poor thing, I hope the next 2 weeks goes so fast for you! Agree with PP's, it's still so early, and your sonographer sounded positive, so hang in there

I had an early scan at 6 weeks 3 days and all they could see was a gestational sac, no yolk sac, no heartbeat, no baby. I waited the two weeks and went back at what should have been 8 weeks 3 days to see the heartbeat and a little bean measuring 8 weeks.
I figure I was really only 5 weeks 4 days at the first scan and that is why nothing was seen. Good luck with the wait, I was a mess and almost physically sick before the scan because I was so worried that something was wrong. |
