I am feeling so so flat lately. I just can't get going. I am sleeping through several alarms in the mornings, to the point that the kids have missed a couple of days of kinder because we would have been so late anyway (half hour drive to get there).

Even during the day I just don't have the energy to get anything done. I am going to start taking some vitamins and iron but in the meantime what is good for a quick boost of energy?

I have a mountain of washing to fold but just thinking about it makes me sleepy

A healthy diet, plenty of sleep and some exercise. Get up and go for a 20 minute walk in the mornings. I know it sounds crazy when you are tired, but you will come back feeling energised.

Firstly OP, I'd go and get a full bloodtest to check thyroid, iron, blood sugar, hormones, and so on. Your lethargy sounds pretty severe. Also, are you depressed right now?

I am talking about an instant quick energy boost, not general lifestyle things.

There is more to it than just what I have said in my OP.

Plenty of sleep is not something you can just get sometimes, and exercise does not make me feel energised at all right now. Maybe for a normal healthy person.

No, not depressed. I have called to make an appointment with my doctor but can't get in for a couple of weeks.

DD used to have a can of V or mother. Since she has grown out of that phase, she prefers a banana smoothie or just a banana.

Sorry, just suggested the walk thing as its something that definitely gives me a quick energy burst when I'm utterly exhausted.

You could take some speed? Tounge1.gif

Lots of fruit helps me too.

Yes I used to do that but am trying to steer clear of caffeine as I think my regular caffeine consumption is actually just contributing to the problem

In all seriousness, though, quick fixes generally make you feel worse in the long term.

Then you get into a bit of a cycle of resorting to the quick fixes like sugar in the afternoon, or a coffee in the morning, but then come crashing down quick and feel crap.

I honestly think just a healthy balanced diet is the best start.
