Hi Everyone,
My 4 month old just started solids a few days ago. At present she is constipated. What is safe to give to a 4 month old to help relieve this? Is prune juice OK at this age? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA! |

When you say solids , what exactly have you fed him the last few days???
I stewed pear & added that to DS's baby rice cereal but that wasn't until he was closer to 5.5 months. Will he drink water & is he still having enough milk..? |

Maybe just slow down the solids for a bit... If she's constipated, there's no need to continue the solids every day. Why don't you drop it back to just once every few days until her body can handle it. At 4 months, her digestive system is perhaps not quite ready for the onslaught of solids daily.
You could certainly do stewed pear though...high in fibre. |

I decided to try solids because she seemed to be hungry. I started her on baby rice cereal for 4+. That seemed fine. Then I tried a pear-banana combo, and I think the banana in this combo is constipating her (banana constipates me too!). She is still getting plenty of milk.
As you suggest, I should probably just serve solids on an alternate basis and see how she goes |
