To victory, it feels unfamiliar but it tastes like chicken
Are you on Pinterest? Search for Paleo Holiday desserts heaps of ideas, I am making some grain free cinamon buns for xmas morning and a grain and dairy free chocolate cream pie for after lunch. I go with Mark Sisson on the 80/20 thing though, if you can't indulge in a bit of bread and other treats at xmas what's the point in living.

I tend to really savour the fruits for dessert. Go for the expensive stuff like lots of mangoes and stone fruit, or try new exotic ones. For something a little different you can mash them up and freeze them into cute shaped cups. I like to add straight cocoa to things like mashed banana. Depending on your version of Paleo, you could add a dash of a non-grain based spirits to your frozen desserts wink.gif

I have noticed that a lot of boiled Christmas puddings have a lot of almond meal. I was thinking it may be possible to replace all the flour with almond meal, and leave out the sugar. Then boil as normal. Not sure if it would last as long though.

Christmas cake may also be possible to make in a similar manner, just using almond meal, dried fruits and eggs.

Paleo icecream, made with fruits and coconut cream, would be nice on a hot day.

I've made fudge balls using coconut flour (you could use dessicated coconut), mixed with carob poweder and almond paste. Just mix all together and roll into balls. Roll in carob powder or coconut flour. If you eat honey I guess you could add a bit of that. I don't eat honey though.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his nee
I'm not a paleo eater, but for me Xmas nibbles is nuts and dried fruit by the bowlful and I think that is fine?
Also, my friend eats paleo and uses coconut milk in place of dairy for desserts. I actually make a fruit crumble for Xmas dessert and you could make the crumble with nuts and nut meal.

Don't forget cherries are in season! They would make a great sweet treat.

For nibbles try little stuffed vegies. I suggest little eggplants done Imam Bayildi (leave out the cheese or yoghurt). Or little capsicums stuffed with mince. You can do mini cabbage rolls stuffed with mince as well. Just google for the recipes.

An antipasto platter of marinated vegies, such as olives, eggplant and capsicum, plus meats.

Vegie sticks and vegetable dips (eg baba ghanoush). Sometimes you can get good ideas for dairy free vegie dips from vegan websites.

Chicken wings (as normal, or made into those mini "drumsticks") done various ways - marinated, fried, grilled whatever.

Mini kebabs, with peanut sauce or other sort of sauce, like macadamia, if you don't eat peanuts. Maybe put vegies on the skewers with the meat.

Meatballs/ meat kofta.

Vegie kofta. Grate cauliflower or zucchini and make into kofta balls and deep fry. Google the recipe. I think the Hare Krishna website (Cooking with Korma or something like that) has a recipe for vegetable kofta.

Fried cauliflower pieces, in a tomato sauce. Or maybe eggplant or zuchini.

There is a nice Afghani eggplant dish that is thinly sliced baked eggplant, layered with tomato sauce, onions, and served with youghurt and mint. Maybe leave out the yoghurt? It is served cold so can be made ahead of time. But not everyone loves eggplant as much as me. tongue.gif So eggplant can be a bit of a risk when entertaining.

Zuchini fritters.

Chicken pieces (small ones) coated in egg, then in almond meal and fried. They are like little chicken nuggets. My kids love these. Add a pinch of salt to the almond meal if you eat salt.

Mummy to 4 Blessings and 1 Angel.
There are some great gluten and dairy free blogs out there that might meat your requirements.

Would gluten and dairy free lemon polenta cake work? I don't follow recipes exactly (use raw sugar/rice syrup/stevia/honey depends on the recipe well you get the idea)

I've successfully made this one a few times, I think it's suitable for paleo but I don't know all the "rules" but i like that you can't eat too much of it once but it is really yummy. original.gif

I'm planning on trying this one over the holidays.

Good luck and I hope you find what you're after.

We're gluten and dairy free (amongst other things) for two of our kids so am always on the lookout for recipes that are actually pretty easy to make because I hate wasting my time for dodgy recipes.
