DS may have to get grommets and my PHI won't cover me as I only changed providers and upgraded our policy 2 months ago. My GP gave me a referral for an ENT specialist at the Wesley as at the time, I thought my PHI would cover us. I didn't even think about the waiting period with the new provider.
So I'm wondering, if anyone has gone through the Royal Children's hospital for grommets, how long the wait was to get in to see the ENT specialist? I have the consult at the Wesley next week so I will still go ahead with that and I'll find out then how much their fees will be for the procedure without PHI. Fingers crossed the specialists decides his ears can wait a while longer before needing grommets! I'm scared at how much it will cost in a private hospital but at the same time, if DS needs grommets, I don't want him to have to wait months to get an appointment at the public hospital. Why didn't I upgrade out policy when he was first born |

OP you probably haven't received any replies because of the nature of your post. This sub forum is hospitals in relation to pregnancy. I am sure if you post in the appropriate section you might get some replies.

Have you phoned your phi to double check if you're covered? Usually when you transfer to a new insurer, they will waive the waiting periods as long as you've been with the previous insurer for the right period. The exception would be if you upgraded, then you have to fulfil any waiting periods related to the additional cover.
