This will be our first christmas with DS in daycare and I was just wondering what the etiquette is on present buying for the carers. DS loves being with both the ladies in the nursery and I would like to give them something as I'm so thankful that his transition into daycare was easy but I'm just wondering if it is the done thing.
Thanks |

yes - it is the done thing, and usually if you don't you'll be the only one.

You wouldn't be the only one if you didn't buy.
I never did. I only do now if I actually like the carer/teacher and if they have helped my child over the year. |

My first year too.
I actually do voluntary work with children, and as kind as it is - the acres of chocolate at Xmas can get a bit OTT. So DSs carers are getting movie vouchers - if they don't want them, they can easily re-gift them, and I very much doubt they will end up melted together in a January heatwave and thrown out when re-discovered in August!! |

I second movie tickets. We do this every year and it is always well received. I think after all the chocolate and homemade food it something different but something that most people enjoy.

I was thinking about giving them movie tickets. As much as I love getting homemade treats, I wouldn't subject anyone else to my cooking!

To add to this, this is also our first Christmas with day care - there is a core group or about 3-4 carers in my DS' room, but also another 3-4 casuals - should I be buying the same gifts for all or only the core carers
