Hi all,
Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I've just had my second and final baby and am going to look into getting my tubes tied. For various reasons this is the best option for us. I would love to hear from anyone who has had this done. What was your experience with the process, what was involved. How long was the recovery and did you have any issues. Did you go public or private, how long was your waiting time and how much were you out of pocket? Anything else you can tell me that you wish someone had told you beforehand? Any tips or advice for the actual procedure/recovery. Thanks everyone. |

Hi OP, I won't be much help but thought I would reply....
I had a TL immediately after my last c section.....so there was no waiting time per se as it was dictated by the baby's arrival date! I went private, the costs were all wrapped up with the c section and I had some other stuff done too, but private health covered it all. Again, as for recovery times, my case is different as I was recovering from the c section as well. Put it this way, the recovery from this c section + TL was no worse than my first c section, so the impact of the TL was negligible. I haven't had any adverse after effects, my period has returned and its fine (as much as your period ever can be fine!), sex is fine and worry free now I am no longer either (a) trying to fall pregnant or (b) not wanting to fall pregnant and worrying if the contraception will work ... I think it's a good method if you really are done and don't want to mess around the pill, mirena (sp?) etc Good luck! |

Thanks for your story Lucretia Borgia, even though not much of your experience will be relevant to mine. I do appreciate you taking the time to reply.
I have had a previous laparoscopy so I and just imagining it will be similar to that I guess. How do you know if it has worked? I mean, for men there is the obvious test to see if they are now shooting blanks. How do we know? Just fingers crossed? |
