Hello there I need some advice my mum when she was pregnant with me and my brothers n sister she said all the pregnancy tests at home said she wasn't pregnant right up to the day we were all born and that with me she had her periods till I was born, recently I have tried to conceive and my periods instead of being 7 days long on a 29 day cycle I am lasting 3 days on a 23 day cycle and now I am craving strange things special when I am highly allergic to seafood all I wan is seafood, I have gotten bigger in the tummy and have a little lump in the lower part of tummy, I have done a heap of tests and all said negative I have a dr appointment tomorrow afternoon and was wondering is it worth asking for an ultrasound as it was the only way my mum could tell if she was pregnant

Perhaps rethink your username, and invest in a couple of paragraphs.

Blood test will be able to give you the answers you need.

Your doctor will probably want to do a blood test, and if you have a noticable lump on your abdomen he/she will no doubt be able to feel an enlarged uterus. but you are within your rights to ask for an ultrasound if there is any question at all. Your mums history might not be terribly relevant, because pregnancy tests have come a long way since then in terms of sensitivity, but if you are concerned, then your doctor should be able to put your mind at ease.

sorry OP but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me
if you think you are pregnant then ask your doctor for a blood test at your appointment and possibly a dating scan |

I agree with PP - pregnancy tests are more accurate these days than ever. When I was born a chemist did the test for mum and she had to wait overnight for the results. These days tests can pick up HCG before you are even late. Cravings aren't a strong sign. Neither is a pronounced bump - this could be just bloating from your cycle starting. I didn't even feel pregnant until...maybe the 8th week? Good luck - hopefully your doctor can refer you for a blood test to be sure.

odette88. I'm pretty sure that the hormones that are picked up on the HPT decline in your system, the further along you go in your pregnancy. IE If you test 7 days after conception, then you get a higher concentration then you would 7 months after conception.
You need a blood test to be sure. Testing now is a lot more accurate then when your mum was probably pregnant. And another who will advise you to use paragraphs and full stops at the end of your sentences. Makes things a lot easier for people to read and understand. |
