I know most people what their bubs to come early, but has anyone wanted their baby to come on or after their due date? What did you try or do to prevent your baby from coming early! I know bubs will come when it wants to & as long as it's healthy etc but I just wanted to ask the question!!

DS was due on the 22nd, and I was hoping he'd arrive on the 19th so he, DH and I would all have 19th birthdays
He eventually arrived five days late, so maybe reverse psychology?

Oh yeah, my first was due just before the paid parental leave was to come in. My strategy was to be confident that she'd be late - and she was, This time, i wanted bub to come early. Same strategy, mind over matter, right? - but he came at 42 +2!

I had a midwife who told me that you could tell your body/baby what you expected of it. She advised our antenatel class to inform our bodies/babies what we wanted in an assertive voice.
i.e.

"you will arrive on your due date after a six hour labour"

I was willing to give anything a go and I think I informed my baby that he would arrive before his due date and my body got told 6 hours.

I got the six hour labour and my first was 10 days early. I obviously didn't think this would work as I had no bedding or nb clothes for him by the time he arrived.

It still sounds like hocus pocus to me but hey no harm in trying.

Well for me I was confident my first would be late - usual story for first babies right??? Wrong - came on due date. Then for the second I was sure she would be early - had strong braxton hicks for a month before. Little bugger had to be induced at 40+11. So in my case all the usual "labour starting" techniques - curries, sex, acupuncture, long walks, trampolining seemed useful only in prolonging the pregnancy!! Good luck.

Both of my babies arrived spot on their due date. I put that down to having punctual babies or very efficient pregnancies. First labour was 7 hours, second was 2.5.

I did nothing and I honestly believe you do not have any control over things like that. Even all the things you can do to try and make your baby arrive at a specific time I do not believe are effective. You can speed up the process a bit if it's already started but otherwise I think it's all just things people try with hope.

DH has just been put into lockdown training at work - no one can enter or leave for 4 hours - surely that is enough to induce my labour

I am sure that DD2 was so late because I was so stressed by my mum being in hospital and the prospect of having the baby and mum not being able to look after DD1 or be there to see the new bub.

If there is stuff going on that means you are not ready for baby to arrive, I believe that your body will resist going into labour.

My first (DD) was four days past her due date.

I just decided in my head I wanted to have her on a Sunday. Woke up to contractions on Sunday morning and after a textbook 10 hour labour she was in my arms.

With my second - he was due on (Friday) June 30 but I was hoping to go over so that I could get the extra $1000 for the Baby Bonus. My waters broke on the 1st of July (Saturday) but I didn't go into labor until the next day when my parents arrived to look after DD. We had other people ready to look after DD that night but she got a massive case of gastro that night and I didn't really want to foist a sick DD onto my friends who all had little ones - so I had to wait until mum and dad could drive up the next day. And I also wanted to have him on a Sunday.

A couple of hours after they arrived I went into labor and was holding my DS after a 1 hour labor on a Sunday night!
