I'm looking at buying one of the cheap coffee pod machines. I've heard the aldi ones only hold the aldi pods so was looking at the Kmart or Big W brand one as they hold the nespresso pods as well as the aldi pods? Does anybody know if that is right and are they good?
Thank you

We had the Kmart one and found it didn't get the coffee hot enough, once milk was added it was only Luke warm. Two weeks after getting the Kmart machine we ditched it and went and spent the money on a proper nespresso one and there is a huge taste difference even using the same pods. I hate to say it but it really does seem you get what you pay for with these things.

What fresh hell is this?
The Aldi ones only fit Aldi pods, which are bigger than nespresso pods. Dia'Oro (think that's right) also now do pods that fit a nespresso machine, and are available in Woolies and Coles.

I much prefer the taste of the nespresso pods that we use at home compared with the Aldi ones. The Aldi ones taste a bit bitter and like instant coffee to me.

Take a deep breath and count to 10......
There was a thread a few weeks ago on this topic that I can't find now.

I was wondering if anyone bought the machine on special from Woolies and what you think of it??
I have found one still for $79.

Do you have to heat milk separately with this one?

The Aldi machine will also hold MAP pods (from Officeworks & Target) and the Woolworths ones by Gloria Jeans.

The Kmart and Big W cheapies fit either Aldi/MAP or Nespresso. If you are going to get a cheapie decide which of these brands of pods you want and look for a compatible machine.
The MAP pods I've tried are pretty disgusting. Nespresso does the nicer coffee but the Aldi pods are easier for me to get. I've got the Aldi machine and to be honest it mainly gets used for hot chocolate, chai and the first thing of the morning coffee because it's volume controlled and I don't have to hover over it while sorting out the kids.
I used it pretty heavily the first couple of weeks after getting it, now for my daytime cuppas I go back to the expresso machine!

This is a Formal Cheese occasion.
I've just bought the kmart one, which takes the nespresso pods (or the nespresso compatible ones from Woolies.) It's great, comparable taste to my mum's nespresso machine but leaks water all over the bench due to the way the water valve goes into the machine. Time will tell whether that's a long term issue or not.

Don't recommend the milk frother/heater from kmart though. $25 and pretty crappy, sends milk all over the bench as it froths it because the volume expands, even when adhering to the guidelines for how much milk to use.
