It looks as though DD2 has finally stopped breastfeeding. I've been at it continuously for almost 6 years and I'm feeling sadder than I thought I would. Has anyone else had this experience?

Yes, I have cried when I weaned DD and then again when DS weaned. Breastfeeding is such a beautiful bonding experience so it is understandable that you feel a loss. I am guessing the sadness is part hormonal too?
I did find that it only took a day or two for me to feel better about it. You find other ways to spend time with and bond with your child. I hope you feel better soon! |

I fed DS1 for 18 months and felt really empty when he weaned (when I fell pregnant with DS2). Those feelings slowly faded over the period of a week but it was really sad all the same.
I'm now feeding DS2 (5 weeks old) and really loving the bond (and savoring every moment). It is such a wonderful thing. You have done a great thing for your child and you will feel better about it all soon enough. |

,yes. after 5 years of it, i did miss it. also, knowing once it was over, there was no going back made it poignant.
