Im expressing full time for 2wk old and have found since he was born that my right breast produces a lot more milk than my left. I can express about 60mls from my right in under 5 mins but probably not that much from my left in 24 hours.

I have just started taking Motilium and herbs to increase my supply but was wondering what else I could do? I express more frequently and for longer periods from my left than my right but it hasn't made a difference, in fact my supply has decreased significantly from my left.

Anyone had this happen to them?

Yep this happened to me, I was a full time expresser. I found a warm shower before expressing helped and also some gentle massage during expressing, maybe ask an LC to show you as it's a very gentle pressure so as not to damage your breast tissue, more like a bit of pressure on the base of your breast.
Also stroking you breast from side to nipple, very gently helped the milk flow too.
Hope this helps, but it is quite normal.

Yes I have this. Especially when I first started expressing full time.

My left breast would have a lot more milk. But by about 6-7 weeks my right breast stated to catch up. My boobs release at different times though... I will get most of my milk out of my left breast in 6 minutes and then just small drops. But my right breast only gives small drops until about 8 minutes and then starts to squirt out.

Just keep pumping and hopefully it starts to catch up

I think this is very common. Everyone I know who has breastfed (including myself) has this happen. You can try feeding more on the side that produces less if you are feeling a bit uneven or if it really bothers you.

When I was breastfeeding my four children I always produced more milk from my right breast compared to my left. However, I could never express any milk from either breast no matter what I tried. Thankfully I never really needed to have any expressed milk as back up.

Yes I'm the same. My right has a massive supply & I can express maybe an extra 40+mls between feeds & I can hardly express at all from my left. I also find my right gets engorged overnight and my left doesn't at all. I'm thinking its pretty normal. DS seems to feed fine from the left side all the same though...

It's very very common.... I too had to express for a few weeks until DS came home and it is much more noticeable when you express. I ended up nicknaming one of mine "Magic boob" because of it!

Good/bad news is that when you go through the weaning process it is likely to only be one side that gets uncomfortable.

Yep. I was a bit more extreme though. I never got more than 5mL from my left but could easily express over 100mL after a feed from the right at times. After a few weeks I fed from right only with 2 babies. First time round L produced almost no milk ever. Second time round I could a little tiny bit for a few weeks so persevered for a month or so before it became pointless and then went on with right only. You could try expressing twice as much from the weaker side to try and increase supply.

My right always produces more than my left, and when supply on the left increased, mastitis struck n back to square one for. Till now, right still produces more than left.
