Where else but EB can i ask the following and probably get an answer original.gif ?

DH and I have just been watching a show on TV about road train drivers in far north QLD and noticed that the drivers weren't wearing seatbelts (while driving on the highway) and nor were their partners, who were travelling in the sleeping cabin. Are road train drivers exempt from wearing seatbelts?

Some do wear them.

I thought they were legally required to wear them. But, I could be wrong.

They are legally required to wear them, but as most seatbelts in trucks are only lap belts it is hard to be policed.

I mentioned to my DH last week when we were watching that they obviously have a different set of rules to car drivers!

On another note, that was the final already sad.gif Was just getting into it! At least we have Mega Truckers starting up on Foxtel!

DH has been driven trucks all over Australia. Seatbelts are the law everywhere, no exemption for road trains or any other combination. Some trucks only have lap seatbelts so maybe they had them on and they couldnt be seen?

it is a legal requirement, now. A lot of older driversrefuse to wear them, and it is hard to police.
