Arrgghh last 3 nights I've woken up anywhere from. 2am to 4am and can't get back to sleep. ! Driving me absolute bonkers. This happened with my last PG but I don't remember it being this early (21 weeks)

Any suggestions or natural sleep aids ?

I've been suffering insomnia for the past month, surviving on Max 3-4 hours sleep a night and dealing with a sick 16 month old :-( Have not yet found a cure but have found pillow placement helping me relax and sleep a little better. Tried many diff combinations now I've found one I like poor DH has a tiny edge to sleep on but he knows how much I need my sleep right now so is happy to oblige - or mb he is too scared to touch the pillows in fear

Of my reaction! Lol

Hey ELH05 - generally I've been ok, I've been quite exhausted so nodded off ok. But pre-pregnancy I did have some trouble and I've had the odd bad night since.

I used to take Swisse Sleep tablets, but my naturopath said they were not recommended during pregnancy. But I think that was mainly in the first trimester. Maybe check with a naturopath/pharmacist?

Sometimes, especially as the pregnancy progresses, I actually find I have trouble going to sleep (or back to sleep) because of aches and pains. I find on these occasions a paracetamol tablet can help tremendously.

Otherwise breathing/meditation is the best think I've tried. You can get meditation CDs, or apps if you have a smartphone. Plug in your headphones and just follow along until you either relax or drift off. The one other thing that has worked for me in the past are audio books. I listen until I nod off. Preferably books I've already read so I don't get too distracted (Harry Potter is my fav). I highly recommend Halo Headphones for comfortable listening.

Good luck.

Yes! The baby is always kicking around like crazy between those times so I am guessing it's going to continue for a while once the baby is here too ohmy.gif

Funny thing is in the first trimester I would always wake up around 2/3am to be sick sick.gif Sometimes I just need something to eat and I can get back to sleep other nights I never get back to sleep. I second mediation THIS one is my fave (works quite well getting my 3yo to sleep too:) )

Thought I might try to revive this thread. I'm generally a really good sleeper and have only had very occasional difficulty getting back to sleep after a visit to the loo since I've been pregnant. I'm sick at the moment though with a sore throat and cough that keep me awake. I try to go back to sleep but can't, so end up surfing the net on my phone until I can fall back asleep again. Think maybe I should try a meditation app as Little Spoon suggested. Any particular apps recommended? I will also look into the headphones mentioned.
Edited - iPhone typos!

Yep... It's middle of the night wake-ups for me too. Then an achy back stops me falling back asleep.

WD - I use an app called Pranyama Lite. It's easy to use and free. I can't recommend the headphones and audio books enough tho... They are much less stimulating than reading and give your eyes a rest even if you aren't sleeping. The best tip is to use books you know, makes it easier to drift off.

Hope you feel better soon.

Yep, me too.

I lay awake for hours and it drives me insane. At least for DH sake I am not snoring when I am awake.
