First of all I want to say how sorry I am you are going through this. Inconclusive results can wreck havoc on you and hubby.
Unfortunately my experience with low HCG levels is a sad one, but I'll share with you. My cycle in May this was similar. Here are my stats - you can read more about it on my blog 2012 May - IVF/ICSI #4 with DHEA and Donor sperm 8 eggs, 5 embryos, 1 blastocyst transfer on day 5 16DPO (11dt5dt) = hCG 16/Prog 3.6, 19DPO (14dt5dt) = hCG 102/Prog 9.6 22DPO (17dt5dt) = hCG 786/Prog 17.9 26DPO (21dt5dt) = hCG 2034 / Prog 23.6 28DPO (23dt5dt) = hCG 3300 - pregnancy located in stump of my right tube. I truly hope your outcome is better and brighter. Fingers crossed your results on Monday are through the roof and your embie is a late implanter. |

Oh I hope, how frustrating for you!
I don't know anything about the statistical likelihood, but I do know I had hcg of 12 at 16dpo and was issued with strict instructions not to treat it as a definite BFN until after the second test, although they were pretty clear that was the likely outcome (and is how it worked out). My FS is actually happy with the result - first cycle I got DS, second ( first FET) chemical pregnancy....she says even the Chen is evidence of a body willing to respond favourably to ivf). Apparently some women just "do" early pregnancy with low hcg. At the other end of the spectrum, I have a friend who has been suspected of carrying twins every single time due to high hcg. So it seems, there is some hope, but you need to prepare yourself for either outcome. Also, try not to POAS....it's likely at 36 to give you a BFP, but it is really the test on Monday that will tell you what is happening. Be kind to yourself - it's truly horrible to spend two weeks preparing for a positive or negative result only to find there is actually a third option no-one told you about! Good luck, stay strong. |

A friend of mine had an HCG of 8 and then had twins! They also treated my first test as inconclusive and two days later said 'of course you're pregnant!'. It really can go either way, don't give up hope! Good luck!

It was a day 5 blast...
I'm so confused and hurt and angry. The nurse on the phone said its right on the border but said given my history I shouldn't get my hopes up...I don't think that was really necessary. She also told me my professor would call me this afternoon to talk and he didn't. I sat by the phone n couldn't talk to anyone else in case he called and nothing... It's not fair, like its not hard enough dealing with this without the disappointment of not speaking with the person who might have more insight. |

By the way...thanks for responses....it's kind of comforting to know there are some happy endings - but then the nurses words ring in my ears about not getting my hopes up..

I'm not a big believer in numbers. I've had two positives this year that went bad soon after despite good numbers and had a pg years ago that was not expected to continue for three weeks straight based on hcg and bleeding, which then was suspected ectopic, then small for dates at scan. PG was successful after a terrible beginning. I try to assume the worst and hope for the best, and don't put much faith in anything until I've seen a heartbeat.
Wishing you luck for Monday. |
