I want to make beetroot chips this afternoon. I've never made them before and all the recipes seem to say to bake them. But I don't want to bake them. I want to deep fry them and have real chips, not some namby pamby, wishy washy, fake chip thing.
So can I just deep fry thin slices at say around 190 degrees C? Anyone else deep fried beetroot chips? |

Come on people, how am I meant to do anything unless EB gives me step-by-step instructions??
I'll have to do it all by myself now. I'll being holding EB responsible if my chips don't turn out. |

But using a potato would be too easy. If there is no challenge left in life you might as well be dead. I want to live life to the fullest while I still have the chance. So I choose to deep fry beetroot.

I had no idea beetroot chips constituted an extreme dinner.
I'm a food neo-nazi. I only eat white vegetables. The others are inferior. |

I think baking them with olive oil spray would be the only way to make them as they are completely different make up to potatoes or sweet potato.

Just do it. I've done pumpkin in a pot of oil, I used a vege peeler to slice it thin. Cooked it. Drain and cool to allow it to crisp and I sprinkled with a combo of cumin and salt. They're more suitible as a garnish for a salad or something rather than a side serve in itself or as a snack. Good luck with your beet root crisps.

One of my teens is making them now. That way if it all goes wrong it is nothing to do with me.
