For XMAS I have bought DS an old metal footlocker. It is in quite good condition, for its age, other than its had a dodgy home spray paint job. I am thinking of getting it professional resprayed either gloss cherry red or navy blue to match his room. Not sure if I need to have it powdercoated or professionally spray painted and where I'd go to get quotes?
Anyone have any experience in the area? Maybe a DH who does powdercoating or professional spraying? This post has been edited by Poss and Soss: 16/11/2012, 08:09 AM |

Maybe approach a local vehicle smash repairer, I've heard that if you are prepared to wait until they are spraying a car in the colour you want some will do it very cheap for you.

First off you have to look into removing the existing paint and any rust, and I choose a place that offers sandblasting as well as the spray painting. I'd use google and yellow pages to find the local ones.

We have a powder coating plant as part of our business, although not running atm
As PP mentioned you will need to have it sandblasted first to get rid of the home spray job to get the best finish...some powder coaters will coat straight over the top if the surface is smooth but i wouldnt advise it. If you are in Melb i can recommend a Powder Coater that does a lot of one off jobs (most will not do small jobs) |

Try searching for powder coating businesses in the Yellow Pages. We have used one a couple of times, and their prices were quite reasonable, and the finish was amazing.
