I am having a minor medical procedure in the morning - really routine but they need to use a general anaesthetic.



Is it sad that I am really looking forward to the nap???

Obviously I have not chosen to have this procedure for the sleep, but it got me thinking, what extents people with "sleep-challenged" babies/children go to for a bit of sleep!

I have also been known to nap in the car in the Coles carpark, if I pull in and both girls are asleep. No way am I going grocery shopping with 2 tired girls and one tired me! But I do wonder what passers-by think...

So what have you done for a bit of shuteye?

Once I had a pain in my side. I thought it might be appendicitis. Part of me wanted it to be appendicitis so that I could go to the hospital to sleep. It was in the midst of my newborn plus 18 months old era. It wasn't my appendix by the way so I never got the sleep but I do know what you mean!

I wish there was something I could do! I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, both sleep through, but I still don't seem to get enough sleep. Zzz.

I had a lumbar puncture when my second was a few months old and was told that I would need to lie flat on my back for four hours afterwards.

I thought exactly the same thing.

It was bliss and far too short.

Oh and I've just forked out 2 grand for blockout curtains for the kids room. Sick of seeing the world at 5am.

Hmm... I don't know what I would do, but I'm sooooo tired. I have been known to sit in the car on the driveway while the kids are asleep. Sadly, both kids are rarely napping at the same time

Conferences. I went away on my first when DS1 was 8 months old. The first night everyone else went out - I went back to my hotel room, ordered room service, and slept for 12 hours straight. Bliss!

I had a 15 minute nap in the carpark (in my car) before work tonight. It was a lovely power nap, that had the added bonus of getting rid of my headache.

An old western movie was on the telly while I was feeding DS when he was a few months old and not sleeping well. One man was shot and fell into a haystack and I thought 'oh that looks nice'.

when getting stitched up after having ds, i had the option of being put to sleep for the procedure or remaining lucid. i chose to sleep, and it was awesome!so there i was, feet in stirrups with a bunch of strangers sticking needles into my nether regions and i couldnt have been more relaxed! gotta love the anaesthetic!
