Extended family for Christmas Day lunch this year, and it's at the house of my cousin who is married to an Englishman, so we will be having a hot lunch (she makes him cook it since he's determined to have it!), plus the usual assortment of bring a plate items - prawns, salads, lots of desserts, etc.
Our own christmas will be boxing day this year, so I 'll be doing turkey (only two adults and DS so will do one of the turkey roasts), roast potatoes, roast sweet potatoes, carrots, and whatever other veges I decide to do. There will have to be my cornbread or there will be a riot. And gravy. Lots and lots of gravy. Dessert will probably be a Black Forest Cheesecake, but we'll snack on christmasy snacks all day. I'll probably also do a gingerbread house for DS to break apart because I think it will make great photos lol! |

We are hosting this year too, 15 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 tiny ones.
Everyone is bringing something, so I am looking after sides/salads/desserts to go with Ham and Roast Chicken. Love the sound of lasagne as well, so I might have a couple in the freezer if I am organised enough. Others are bringing antipasto, cheese and fruit platters and baking. My sides will be roast veg, beetroot, pomegranate and fetta salad, a green salad and home made herb bread. Dessert is a bombe alaska and Chocolate Crumbe with Hazelnut parfait and lemon butterscotch sauce. Trying to think of something a bit fun for the toddlers. They will be happy with ham etc, but I might do them a special dessert. Santa in a pond? Getting some great ideas from this thread! |

Thanks so much to everyone so far. Great inspiration!
We only have 3 adults & 1 child at this stage but I love Christmas so I'm not missing out on a yummy feast just due to lack of people! So far I'm thinking: Oysters Kirkpatrick Stuffed turkey Ham glazed in something! Hasselback potatoes Mums egg salad and some other vegie/salad side Sticky date pudding - for my DP who hardly likes any sweets! Trifle - it isn't Christmas without trifle here Gingerbread men for DD and I to decorate |
