[Want_to_be_a_mum...]

Hi everyone. I just have a couple of questions about my 3 month old. He seems to be really squirmy all the time. Whenver someone holds him they ALWAYS comment at how squirmy he is. I'm not quite sure what it would mean but can this be normal? He also constantly moves his tongues around and around up and down in his mouth. ALmost as though its in his way. Could he be tongue tied? He has seen a paediatrician so I would think that would have been picked up if he was?

Hi. I don't know if it's 'normal' but my 3 month old DS does both of these things. He can hardly sit still - I assume it's just because he's an 'active' baby and likes to move around all the time. And the tongue thing I think is just because he's recently 'discovered' his tongue and is exploring - he's always sucking on his fingers now too. A precursor to grabbing things and putting everything in his mouth, I'm sure!
Anyway I'll be interested to see what others think.

My 3 month old won't be still for other people but is for me. It drives DH nuts to hold him for mor than a few minutes. He doesn't do the tongue thing as far as I have noticed ( and he does have a tongue tie) but he loves to suck his fingers. I'd go with normal behaviour but get your gp to look at his tongue if you are worried.

Sounds similar to my 3.5 month old DS. He doesnt like to sit still in my lap much anymore, and starts squirming after a few minutes. I am finding I'm having to move him around--play mat, bouncer thing, cuddle, different room--to keep him entertained. Anyone else found this? He gets grizzly, I move him to a new place, and he will settle & "play" for a bit longer.

I think the tongue thing is exploration. DS is poking his tongue out a lot at the moment, and as a PP suggested its prob cos hes discovered it & is "trying it out".

PP, my bub need to be moved around a lot to, to different rooms and in different positions etc otherwise he gets restless and bored!

Yup. My bub gets grizzly now after too long in a certain room/position/plaything. Also very squirmy when carried after a while. Driving me peanuts! I have to go out everyday so she can look at things - its the only time she's a bit still & quiet!
