wondering if this has happened to anyone else.....
Had an u/s on the 6th November (by my dates i should of been 5+6) however the report said " A small hypoechogenicity is seen in the fundal region of the endometrial cavity possibly a small gestational sac measuring 5x3x6mm in diameter. Both ovaries appear normal. The right ovary has a volume of 9m and the left ovary a volume of 3ml. No fetal pole is seen. The yolk sac, amnion are not identified. no free fluid is seen in the pouch of douglas" NONE of which i understood but read as "there is nothing there" On the 8th November i had bloods taken and the level was 7890, then bloods taken on the 10 November level was 10600, then levels taken on the 12 were 14300. I am assuming that because the levels are not doubling that the pregnancy is not viable (i dont have a great track record for pregnancies I am stressed right out and after giving up at trying to concieve number 4 was shocked to get a sorry for the novel but i just really don't know what to think!!! |

Hi.
Firstly, at this point in pregnancy you would not expect your HCG to double anymore. It's really only accurate in the very first weeks after implantation. After HCG hits around 6000 (give or take) the rate of increase slows down and becomes completely unreliable as far as judging the status of a pregnancy. Your LMP would have been the following day if it didn't start until 5pm, though that does not mean much. The two main questions I have for you are: Do you have a regular 28 day cycle? Was the ultrasound abdominal or tansvagnal? |

HI, I would not be keeping an eye on your levels as it is no indication at all that things are good or not. My levels for last mc had doubled and still lost it. This time my DOC checked them when i 1st found out I was preg but said he doesn't rely no them and said no more are necessary.I'm now 15wks

Hi OP
With my calculations your levels actually dont look too bad. Check this link out.. http://www.betabase.info/showBasicChart.php?type=Single If you LMP was 29th September (as it was after 5pm on the 28th) You found out on 26th October = 28 days Baseing it on a normal ovulation as say day 14. Your level of 7890 you would have been 27 DPO (approx) 10600 at 29 DPO 14300 at 31 DPO these numbers look to be in the normal range. As for the sac and fetal pole i think it was probably just way too early to see anything. Maybe a follow up scan is on the cards in a few weeks. Goodluck. |
