Hi Everyone,

We are moving out of our unit in 2 weeks time and I was thinking of putting a note in our neighbours letter boxes letting them know that we were having removalist come to move us and what time they were planning on coming.

WDTY? Would you appreciate a note to let you know that there will be people moving out and have a people in and out of the building most of the day? Possibly having car access blocked off for an hour?

Thanks

Yes I would appreciate a warning of a shared driveway being blocked.

I probably would just knock on their doors unless it's lots of units. I knocked on our back neighbour's door when we were moving in because we share a driveway, so I met them at the same time.

Yes, if you're going to be blocking off access then I think it's a very good idea to let people know; or if you are causing significant nuisance in some other way. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Sorry I should have written it better, by blocking off access I meant the cars having to get around the truck and people up and down the narrow stairwell.

It's only for a couple hours. Don't think it's necessary IMO. Not that many ppl go up and downstairs in the duration of move.

Definitely. It's something I did when I moved out of a town house with a single driveway through to separate garages and mine was the very first and would completely block access. The other owners/renters were definitely appreciative. I'm sure the movers would have been too because it saves them having to stop, pack up and move out the way.

This is what can happen if you don't let the neighbours know!
