So Christmas is coming and I haven't bought a thing! My other 2 kids are easy to buy for but I am stuck on 3.5yo DS! What do your boys like playing with? Any cool new toys out there for this age group??

We have bought DS the Toy Story "dolls"- Woody, Buzz, Rex and Slinky Dog. He is a little obsessed with Toy Story and plays with them at his friend's house so I'm thinking he will be pretty excited to get his own one (and DD is getting Jessie and Bullseye).

My son has always loved toys associated with TV shows he likes. For example, when we got the Toy Story DVD's we also brought him the figurines and a Buzz doll to go with it. When he watches Power Rangers he pulls out all his power ranger action figures and plays with them while he watches. Same for Ben 10, Cars - I'm sure you get the picture!
At that age he also really loved Duplo (still does!). You can get some great Disney Pixar Cars duplo now. Also play doh, colouring in stuff, even Licensed pyjamas/t shirts/undies with his favourite characters on them. |

Hi Puuky, I was just wondering where you got the Slinky Dog from and how much $$ it was. My 2 year old son LOVES Toy Story and I have got him a BUzz, Rex and Woody, (he got Bullseye for his b'day) for Christmas. I'm really interested in this Slinky Dog now, never seen them. TIA |

I bought Slinky Dog online at the start of the year so I can't remember where I bought it from, sorry! But I have seen some in Toys'r'Us lately, so you could always try there? Here's the link to the Slinky Dog from the US Toys'r'Us.

Does he have a bike? WE got ours a bike for his birthday and it is still all he wants to do every day.
Smaller things he currently loves: Dinosaurs Trucks/Diggers/Excavators etc Cars (not just Cars cars, any cars) puzzles lego (duplo is for babies apparently!) He loves his toy kitchen, we got a cheap plastic one from big W (like $30?) thinking it would be a phase but 6 months on it's still a firm favorite with both kids (and still surviving quite well too!) Noise. God does he like making noise. So drums, flutes, pipes, recorders...if it makes noise he likes it! For Christmas he is getting: Flying remote-controlled shark (it looks good but he likes sharks too) A blow up paddle pool/sprinkler thingy to share with his brother a build a bear and some clothes dress up stuff probably, possibly, maybe - a new drum kit, the cheap one didnt last long and he has been lobbying for a new one for a long time so we're thinking about it. Santa has got him a draw-on teddy bear, a santa snow globe, a musical dancer thing (you know, wind up with magnets?) and will get a santa stocking of some variety. If he agrees to go to the toilet I'm sure santa will buy him some exciting new undies with dinosaurs or something on them too!! HTH |
