My mum may be (I am researching) going to get the boys an ipod touch or tablet for christmas. I am hoping this will keep them off my samsung galaxy s2 phone playing games. Which is better? I went the galazy phone as I don't like the iphone or apple really. They will only really be playing games on it so is spending the less money buying a tablet rather then the ipod touch fine?

I'd go the cheapest option.

We have been looking at this as well and i think we will be going the tablet. I like the touch but i really think they will get more out of a tablet ie they can listen to music, play educational games and watch movies on long car trips.

Can't believe my baby girl is 1!
We brought an ipod touch for Miss 7. She loves it. Lots of great free apps and free games to play. Plenty of educational stuff available if you want that. DD has loads of music on it too. We are very happy with it.

I like them sweet.
They're personally the same in terms of functions, availability of apps etc. However, the only android tablet that is worth the money at the moment is the Nexus.

For a child, I would probably get an iPod touch instead of a tablet. An iPod touch is smaller and easier to carry around.

Price wise, you could also get an 8 gig iPod touch for around $120-$150 depending on sales etc. The only android tablet I would get is the Nexus and that's about $250. Anything below $200 isn't worth it and will probably be laggy and crap. I have yet to hear good things about an android tablet under that amount.

Android tablets seem a bit hit and miss. We have one (cost $300 a few years ago) that is so slow and laggy a lot of games just can't be played.

The touches are GREAT. I find i-tunes easier to use than the android market.

You can do all of that on an i-pod.

With an Apple product, you are guaranteed to get quality. Some of the cheaper Android tablets are about the same quality as an Etch-a-Sketch.
