The fembos go so overboard.
A friend of mine who teaches in a public secondary school told me yesterday that teachers will not be writing reports for students this year as part of their industrial action. I was at a party and we were then interrupted so I didn't get a chance to clarify with her.

Can anyone tell me please whether this is true?

I think you will find it is only those teachers who are in the union so there will still be plenty of kids who will get school reports. For instance at our school I think there are only about 10 teachers out of about 40 classes who are in the union therefore there will still be 30 classes who will get school reports.

I'm sorry to hear this, whilst I support their action I don't support this, I want this feedback about my child and it causes ill will in me for one. sad.gif
I'll be asking dd's teacher on Monday, almost all teachers have been involved in the strike action.

As part of the industrial action union members are not writing full reports. At our school union members still have to give an overall satisfactory or not satisfactory for each subject as well as the VELs progression points. This is. At a secondary school so not sure what they are doing. Non members doing full reports.

This sums up how I feel too lucky 2. DS's teacher ha given nothing all year so while I know for DS he is doing well, there are so many kids out there who having that feedback for is essential.

Can any teachers comment on why this action was chosen?

I am guessing that reports are strictly considered an admin activity outside of actual teaching. Are they typically written outside of work hours?

Whilst we all want and need feedback on our children, it would appear that the government is not prepared to keep its promises to teachers. The only way to be heard is to actually take action that the community takes notice of. It's hard. People hate the strike days. Reports are incredibly time consuming and take up hours of out of school hours. I think this is why teachers are going down this route.

I support the teachers even though I love a report. Go and see your teacher. They will let you know how your child is faring.

unfortunately not always the case - it was one of the many beefs that a large proportion of parents have with DS's current teacher.
