I had a small rash on my right hip that I initially thought were bites as it looked like a cluster of red dots.
Its now scabbed over without me scratching at it. I've now developed spots on my stomach and on my shoulder. The original patch on my hip actually hurts - constantly. Any ideas on what this might be and what to do about it? thanks |

It could be anything. You really need a doctor to have a look. But if it's painful maybe you have shingles.

Shingles didn't even cross my mind - I thought the rash would have to be more widespread?

Yeah, I would guess shingles too. I had shingles years ago, and I only had a spray of blisters over one hip. It tends to follow nerve paths, so what you are experiencing sounds about right.

Diagnosed via swabs taken by the GP.

Easiest way to diagnose is for a GP to look at it. A swab can be taken but is not always necessary.
If you get to the GP quickly (within 72ish hours of the rash appearing) there are medications which can reduce the duration and severity of the symptoms. Cover the rash with a light dressing and see a GP. Good luck. |

It hurts quite a lot - wish it wasn't Sunday so I could get something done about the pain |
