We have a wedding to go to in a couple of months, old friend of my dh, I'm struggling to think of an appropriate gift not knowing them that well. I was thinking a nice bottle of champagne around $100, any suggestions? Or anything else we could get don't really want to get a voucher.

It is an outdoor wedding, mostly on grass so any outfit suggestions would be appreciated. I was thinking platform/wedge shoes don't want to sink into the grass. And a nice dress with a jacket/wrap/cardigan because it could get cool in the evening. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Doesn't your DH have some idea of what his mate might like, given that it's his mate? Is his mate into outdoor activities? Theatre? Does his mate like a particular sport or activity? have the couple not included any kind of gift registry to give you some idea?

If it's in January and you are still desperate for an idea, just use the Xmas sales to buy a set of good quality towels, with hand towels and face flannels, etc. Otherwise, I'd just include a cheque for $100 in the card and leave it at that.

I would tend to go for a $100 gift voucher in a card. Unless you know they are definitely "high quality" drinkers. To be honest, my Hubby and I rarely drink at home and a $100 bottle of champagne would have been absolutely wasted on us. A $10 bottle would be no different.

Nice photo album and/or frames?
A serving platter, fancy bowl or carafe
Cocktail or wine glasses

For an outdoor wedding in January, I'm assuming it's not too formal so I think a summery, knee-length dress with wedge sandals and a little cardigan would be perfect. Maybe something with flowers or polka dots?

My standard gift for weddings is a set of really lovely glass christmas ornaments (assuming they celebrate christmas). Something that a lot of people wouldn't buy for themselves, but everyone seems to really love it.

Depending on what look you want to go for, I've actually had brilliant luck with a lot of the sellers on ebay that do custom dresses.

I've ordered all the bridesmaids and girls dresses from one particular seller who has been very accommodating.

Also websites like JJs House or Lightinthebox do similar (standard or custom sizing). You can choose between colourful printed dresses or plain colour dresses where you can choose from 20+ colours. I ended up getting the dresses from ebay instead only because I fell in love with some of their designs for the children.

Never would have thought of Christmas ornaments, I like that idea thanks casime. I will have to see what I can find, any websites recommendations for them?
Not sure what style of dress I want, but I will check out eBay and the other sites thank you
