We have been having lots of problems with 3yo DS and violence lately. He's got a temper on him and lashes out when he doesn't get his own way. Mainly hitting, kicking and hair pulling.
Nothing has worked and I've been at the end of my rope. He didn't respond to time out, early bed times, loss of toys, yelling, nothing. This morning I decided I was going to stay as calm as I could. Every time he hit (he mainly directs his anger at his sister) I took away one toy, and put it on a shelf in the middle of the house. He could clearly see them at all times, but could not reach them. Each time he lost one, I calmly explained why it was there. This afternoon he was having another one of his wobblys when I said no to something. He went to hit me, saw the toys and stopped himself mid air! And then went back to being calm and collected! I know it's not much, but it's something after freaking weeks of tearing my hair out! Just wanted to share! |

I've been finding 3 horrible! It was like a switched was flicked on his birthday! My polite and well mannered little boy was replaced with the devil!

Well done! It is difficult to stay calm in the face of a feral 3 year old - this is a simple workable solution that is easily understood by your little terrorist.

Great breakthrough! My 3 yar old is hard work whenever there are others around, Perfect little angel by herself. Problem is she is not on her own very often as DD1 is always around.
Im not enjoying the feral age 3 at all |

I had a perfect DS until 3 and he turned overnight it seemed.
He's 6 and has come good in the last six months or so. Staying calm and consistent will work. |
