Do any of you have an AWESOME fake Christmas tree? - and yes I do believe there is such a thing
I have been hunting around for a good quality tree that will last (for the next 15 years or so), and though I've found a couple of promising websites, I would love some real life feedback from someone who already has one.
I'd ideally like a 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 foot tree. Green (none of this white or purple craziness ) and quite dense with lots of tips. I guess I'd spend around $300 for the right tree!

So come on - who has a fantastically festive fake fir out there?

I don't have any photos sorry but I have a gorgeous 7.5 foot tree - bushy, gorgeous tips, can't see the branches, nice and lush - and green! No white bits on it, no shiny bits, just a good old green tree (dark green). I bought it from Myer last year. I think it was close to $300 on sale but it's divine.

We had the luxury of being able to pop into the shop. Great service and great products. The trees looked fantastic, I spent a long time trying to choose one! I found them to be far better quality then every other store we looked at.

Mine are from Myer. 7.5ft, really thick, can't see the branches. Branches are strong, which was important to me because I hang Swarovski ornaments on one of my trees. They were about $280 each.

I aslo bought one from the website Sandy mentions above about 4 years ago.
They are fantastic. They have so many styles to choose from though. I googled the name of the trees to see other examples of real trees to see if it was the shape colour I wanted.
They have both European trees, American and Canadian. I know a lot about different fir trees now. lol

Sandy_1985 and Red_Squirrel I looked at that site earlier today and was overwhelmed with the choices! Great to hear you guys are happy with yours though. Any idea which style you have?
Dizzy-anne and Casime I would also love to check out the Myer trees but as I'm based regionally it's not gonna happen this year

I got the 6 1/2 ft Oxford Spruce....after taking hours to decide.
Good luck! If in doubt as to which one would suit you, give the place a ring, they know some much about their stock

I got the Vienna Spruce in Hunter green. I am very happy with it. I was only interested in the 'traditional trees'. So that narrowed it down a bit.

I can't remember how tall though, probably 6.5. I remember at the time I wanted taller but it would have been too wide at the base.

I was after a tree that had that old fashioned 'quality street' look. Someone posted a tree that I thought looked fab in a 'show us your tree' thread and I wanted to get the same type of look.

Like I said earlier, I googled images for 'vienna spruce' and the others I liked the look of to get the one that best fitted the picture in my head.

ETA: The main difference besides colours is the configuration and direction of the branches in the trees. They tend to copy the real trees and as you will see the different firs and spruces have quite different tips.

Great thanks so much Red _Squirrel and Sandy_1985 - good idea to check out pics of the real thing on the net too. I might give those guys a call next week. Oooo I'm a bit excited now! ....what a xmas geek I've turned into.

Now I'm going to need an equally impressive ornament stash upgrade.

We bought from the same store mentioned above - and like a pp we were able to go into the warehouse. To be honest we were somewhat bamboozled by the choice and the quality of the trees. I don't think you can go wrong with which one you select. We did buy an extender piece which just makes the tree a bit taller.

You can't go wrong buying from there. I seem to recall they were about the cheapest decent tree around too.
