Anyone suggest a good game for kids 4-8 pls.
I am a tad wary about downloading just any game from Apple etc since I've heard that some games have the kids 'buying'.
Obvioulsy they think its play money but not!I dont want any surprises.
We had one game for our daughter exactly as above & she came to me & asked me about it before clicking thankfully:)

any recommendations appreciated.Would like to get them something on the phone even just a couple of games would be fine.

Make sure you change your settings to not allow "in app purchases". This will stop you being able to buy anything within the game and then you don't need to worry.

The in app purchases etc is part of the settings on your apple product. We restrict items the kids have access to so there is no in app purchases and you have to use a password every time you download a game -ie it doesn't leave the password so you can purchase things in the 5-15 mins after a single purchase.

These apps are free or have light versions. Some are games, some just for fun. A lot will have Purchase pop-ups, often at the start of the game. But my kids know to close off any pop-ups and we have not had any problems.

Our iPad and iPod have a password and can't make purchases without it. You can set this up and turn off in app purchases in settings.

Yes, I'd be more aware of tightening your security settings than finding games that either don't have advertisements or in app purchasing.

If you are not confident navigating your phone, make an appointment at a Genius Bar and get them to run you through it.

I understand, but honestly, if you're not very familiar with it, getting some help is worthwhile.

I have tech savvy family members so just ask them, but I was pleasantly surprised how good the Genius Bar staff were when I was in for another issue. I watched them help other people and have since recommended others to go in.

Things like setting up your security, ability to locate a lost phone, restricting in app purchases, password frequency etc. understanding these things and customizing your phone allows you to use it to the fullest.

Most 'free' apps make their money in other ways. It's rare for a free game app to not have either linked advertising or in app purchases.
