DD is having a Christmas Party for a bunch of her pre school friends and the girls are doing a Secret Santa.
One of her friends is bringing her 1 year old sister along and despite her Mum saying not to worry about including her in the present giving, I would like to get her a little gift. Wanting to spend $10 to $15 only and preferably a toy that is something educational, or a puzzle, perhaps something unique or something cute (like a little stuffed lamb). Trying to avoid plastic, mass produced toys if I can. I thought of some cardboard stacking cubes but all the ones I have seen are around $30. I also thought of a book as we are book lovers but if I can I would like to get her something she can play with. If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful! My DD is 3.5 now and I cant believe that I cant remember what she was really into just 2.5 years ago!! |

If it were me, I'd probably just buy her a cute little outfit. I imagine at 1 she has lots of toys already including ones she now has that were once her older siblings.
Otherwise ( I was in Kmart today looking at toys with my kids) if you are near a Kmart they have things like a pink 'lullaby glow worm' for $10, a shape sorting snail for $9 (a snail thing that you put different colour shapes into, and I think it plays music too), wooden stacking blocks for $10. They have a fair bit of 'Playskool' stuff for under $15. Toys R Us also has a decent selection of things for under $15. This post has been edited by bakesgirls: 09/11/2012, 12:29 AM |

I know you don't want plastic but Kmart has (or had the last time I was in there) the cutest little egg shape sorters. Basically you get 6 eggs which sit in a little egg carton and they each break into 2 pieces and have a different shape inside each of them (heart, square, star, etc) I have brought them for loads of my friends as 1st birthday gifts and they all say their kids love them - maybe because it is a small box that can easily be packed away when not in use.
Otherwise I would just get a couple of boardbooks or maybe a dolly/teddy/stuffed toy. It's really just the thought that counts! |
