How many days past pick up are you Peta? I'm not very good at not POAS, and it does drive me crazy.

Oh dear, I just thought about it and I'm only 5 days past transfer - I think I will need to hold off a bit longer!
Its just that I've been feeling lots of symptoms and today they are gone... I'm paranoid! How are you going bree18? Any updates? |

Hi
Do you get to be Sliver and Bronze, if you have not claimed the position Ladies???? Does this make me Silver? Good Luck Peta, it's not easy, but at 5 days, it's not likely to be positive yet, so be strong and enjoy the feeling. Yes Bree, time for an update isn't it? April |

Hey guys, I had to jump back in to help puddle duck out- yes April I'm still lurking! I'm just so so sooooo sick that I have had no energy to jump on the comp. I'm writing this on my phone in bed! But I dont expect any sympathy- this morning sickness is what we all hope for!
Anyway puddleduck, yep I'm in Perth and can thoroughly recommend Hollywood. Our embryos have a 25% chance of having cystic fibrosis so we explored PGD costs and centres- i was told only pivet, concept and hollywood are the best. Concept and hollywood came recommended and pivot was more $$. I wouldn't tell you to not go with them for that reason tho! I liked hollywood straight away as they took time answering my questions. We had to go to king Edward genetic councellors to get a referral letter and then wait a few months for our feasibility test to be done. Then Hollywood had to create a specific test for us which took another few months. After that we had the go ahead and its a case of a normal IVF stimulation cycle where you stimulate your ovaries to produce as many eggs as possible, they are harvested, your man makes his sample and the scientists try to fertilize the eggs. At Hollywood they grow the fertilized eggs to 5 days and then biopsy them and send the biopsy to Genea, Sydney. I chose Hollywood over concept because concept only grew to 3 days which to me seemed very small to biopsy! So at this point it is a heartbreaking wait to see which eggs fertilize, then which embies grow and survive biopsy! As u can see from my signature, we were left with 5 before testing. and they are frozen. You can't do a fresh transfer because of being in Perth unfortunately.. I think at concept you might tho. Because of this we also chose to have chromosome testing done as well. If we had to wait an extra cycle then We thought we would make the most of it! After 3 weeks they were able to tell us we had 2 with cf, 1 with a whole new syndrome and another that would have miscarried before 14 weeks. Leaving us with the little lovely who is making me so sick right now!! You have to wait a full cycle before they can transfer your healthy emby back but this can be a good thing! They are very thorough at Hollywood, don't seem to have some of the problems that april is having with a set amount of pgd per month and they do blood tests 12 days after transfer which is good and weekly blood tests after that which is reassuring. I also felt I could call the scientists at genea where they do the testing whenever I had a concern and they would happily chat to me. So I'm not meaning to push you toward Hollywood I have just had a good experience so far. Definitely call up the centers and see who you feel comfortable with because that is very important! It is a long road but I feel much happier doing things this way instead of risking it.. As Bree said the clinics do still watch their backs and recommend having th CVS test too.. Ours is in a month or so- maybe ill sing a different tune if they have effed up and transferred an unhealthy one.. Don't even want to joke about that! Good luck and keep in touch! Hi to everyone else .. I am following and sending lots of good vibes to you all!! Xx |

1st Time, great to hear from you! When are you having a scan?? Keen to hear updates...
Hi Bree, are you due for a scan soon? I'm also hanging out for your updates!! Madalem, hope you are having a really nice time away! Peta, how is the 2ww going?? Not too long now until you test! When are you going to POAS?? April, Puddleduck, hi. April, I was so angry to read your update. Surely the clinic should have applied to the council as soon as you knew you were not going to test your PGD & were planning another stim? I have lots to say on the matter, but PM me if you want any info as I'm too cross for you to write what I think in a public forum. I'm also a Perth girl, but am living in SA. I have had two babies with a fatal genetic trisomy (the most recent in June this year) yet both DH & I are chromosomally normal so we have chosen to undergo PGD with CGH looking at all chromosomes to avoid having another stillborn or midtrimester loss which has torn us apart emotionally. All of the information I have is that a day 5 biopsy is 20% more likely to give a healthy pregnancy than a day 3 biopsy & all the presenters at the recent fertility conferences agree with this. We have gone through Genea in Sydney & the experience is extremely awesome. I thoroughly recommend them. It is a pain with all the travelling for transfers but they are certainly the best as far as labs go & have the highest success rates but are very pricey. Prices on the website are surprisingly accurate. I believe that Hollywood in Perth also uses the Genea lab. Not sure about the others. In my case, I feel much better travelling to what I think is the best lab & thoroughly recommend them. Their lab staff are always available on the phone to answer the most stupid of my questions & I feel really reassured. I also had much better results from my stim cycle with them - all 8 of my embryos made it to blastocyst stage which I have never had before!! Also April, I have 6 frozen embryos (untested) from a stim cycle here in SA which I can't throw out but won't use as I can't face another stillborn but this was of no consequence before I started another stim in Sydney. I had an initial phone consult with the FS & had a visit to Sydney for nurse/scientist/finance person meeting & have only been back for transfers/EPU. We had to do a freeze all cycle to wait for CGH results but again there has been some research that shows that frozen natural cycles have a better success rate possibly than fresh transfers without OHSS risk. Anyway, hope that helps & hope you all have a nice weekend. xx |

Hi hoping, 1sttimelucky and April!
April- you can claim silver Peta- 10 days past transfer is still early. I have always started testing at 4 days past 5dt and have gotten a positive at 5 days past transfer but many people don't get a positive that early so ideally I would wait another few days. BUT I know that I wouldn't have the will power! AFM- I had a BT on Monday and my hcg had doubled nicely again and progesterone was the same so I've calmed down a lot. I think I'll get another test Monday or Tuesday to check my progesterone as I'm still a little worried but I'm hoping that it is just going to stay the same or go up now. I still look at my left over crinone wondering whether I should work out a way of using half a stick a night. I have a scan on Tuesday which hopefully shows a nice healthy heartbeat. I have to admit I haven't really accepted that I'm pregnant and I know that's to protect myself if it doesn't turn out well but I'm hoping that the scan will be fine and I can start to accept and enjoy it. Hi hoping and Bree! How are you? My scan is monday so hoping for a nice heartbeat! My last hgc levels we 80,000+ so hoping this means there will be!
Yep it's Genea who Hollywood use but just for pgd/ cgh all the growing and fertilizing and biopsying (word?) happens in Perth.. Well it did for me. Did u speak to don in the lab at Genea hoping? He is awesome! He would just keep talking and give me heaps of info! He really made me feel comfortable with any little question I had. I've nOticed A few perthies in the November 2ww puddleduck, some at concept you might want to ask them about their experience? X This post has been edited by 1sttimelucky: 09/11/2012, 04:48 PM |
