For most of this pregnancy I've had the occasional discomfort come from what feels like my right ovary. Early on, my OB said it was probably just a corpus leutum and was nothing to worry about. This was noted on my 12 week scan also.

Over the last few weeks the pain has "spread" wider and lower around the bottom of my belly and speaking to the physio she said it sounds like round ligament pain.

My concern is, when I go to the toilet, I'm getting the pain more.

***TMI***
It's mostly when urinating (not all the time though) and when having bowel movements too... I assumed it was a bit of constipation, combined with the round ligament pain and it just one of those pregnancy things...

Tonight it was quite painful.... so of course I start over-analysing things, and thinking about the ache I get in the middle of the right side of my back and wonder if it's my kidney (?) and am now worried something might actually be wrong - like a UTI, kidney problem or something else?

So my main question is... should I call my OB in the morning? Should I try to see my GP tomorrow? Or should I call the hospital tonight? I'm 25w3d and I've never had to call the hospital before, so don't now if this is something I should call them about??

FWIW, baby is very active as per usual....

Thanks!

I get this too. Almost exactly the same - not every time - usually when Im really busting. Sometimes it concerns me too. But if the baby is sitting in a position cramping your bladder it might do this? Have you ever been told by your octors you could have IBS before you were pregnant?
I wouldn't be too concerned. It's probably normal but check with your GP. It might be cystitis or something.

I have had this and come to the conclusion it was round ligament pain. The thing that was worrying me was that it was only on the right side (I was thinking ovarian cycst or something). It was especially sore if I tried to sit up from a lying down position or during bowel movement (but this pregnancy I have had the odd spot of constipation), even a couple of time when DTD with DH we had to stop as I had the sharp stabby pain on the right. Later on in the pregnancy i.e. around the 28wk mark I started to feel it on the left side as well. Which made me feel at ease that it was in fact ligament pain.

It is only when I am trying to engage core muscles. I dont tend to have it when I am just standing or sitting around doing nothing.

Of course you have to satisfy yourself that it is nothing to worry about so call your practitioner if that would ease your mind.

Cordyline - it's EXACTLY the same as you! It's started on the right side, and I'm getting it when I roll over in bed occasionally too now (which is becoming an effort in itself!), or when I get up from sitting on a chair etc - so like you said, when using those core muscles. It's mostly been on my right, but this past week that is has spread further across the bottom of my bump too.

Koobie - I don't think it's IBS - my DH has IBS and I've seen him suffer plenty of attacks, which thankflly this feels nothing like! It really feels like muscular pain, not internal pain IYKWIM?

I've made an appointment to see a GP today (not my usual one) just to rule out anything sinister.

Thanks ladies, you've put my mind at ease! Hopefully the GP can do the same!

Gp was great. Had a good feel around and was happy there is nothing wrong with my kidneys etc. baby is snuggled in low, but happy. Fundal height was right on 26, BP and pulse great and urine sample clear so she is very confident it's "just" round ligament pain.

Nice to get the reassurance though. Thanks again ladies :-)
