She who shall not be named, Arguing on FB

So, I just stupidly entered into an argument on FB about she who shall not be named and getting babies to sleep. I just can't help myself. So, what do you do? If you see someone on FB recommending her book do you say something? Do you think it's rude to comment if you disagree with the method?

Thank goodness children sleep!
My usual response is: "I would not use that book as toilet paper, have you heard of Elizabeth Pantley?"

I would either say nothing or say 'I had great success with.... Because it........' I don't think you need to denigrate one, instead advocate what you see as the preferred method.

I do not think disagreements on parenting styles play out well on facebook.... If I felt the need to say something I would say I did not find her approach useful and that some people have really strong views on this issue... I am not a fan in general about putting personal stuff on facebook so maybe the wrong person to ask...

You could say that you have looked at her book but felt that you didn't want to follow such a strict schedule.

I have a friend who adores this person and has offered to loan me the books several times, I just say thanks but her style isn't for me (I leave out that I read the book in horror and gave it back to the library quick smart!!).

I guess my issue with it is not that I care about my friend's parenting approach as such, but that a post glorifying the book and singing it's praises encourages other people to use it. I wanted to add some balance which was probably a bad idea. I don't think I was rude but it certainly ignited a heated debate.
