I'm going mad. I'm taking medication to get rid of my allergy rash but it's not going away. I've been back to the doctor and am going again but I have no idea what has caused this reaction and I just want to stop itching!

What could it be? I have used no new products, haven't eaten anything different, I don't garden, I don't go anywhere apart from Safeway and the kids' schools. Any ideas?

I developed a reaction to washing liquid. I used Dynamo liquid for years with no problems, then suddenly my eczema started flaring up and I hadn't been exposed to any of the usual triggers. Swapped washing powder, and problems disappeared.

If it's really bad I'd be asking your GP to do proper allergy testing.

hayfever has been shocking this year, DD and myself are suffering big time! I dont know if that could contribute? no grass or anything? We couldnt explain DDs shocking rash till we figured out it was grass. I only get rashes from washing powder when it hasnt rinsed properly or i wash at the in laws house I cant cope with their powder!

I'm suffering badly this year with my hayfever as well. For me I'm allergic to grass, mould, lavender & pollens from natives - especially wattle!

I don't know where you are, but it's not prickly heat is it? it can look similar to an allergic rash & be really itchy. There is powder you can buy for that & i find it works quite well & quickly.

Anyway when my allergies flair up badly I take to a cool shower, slather on paraderm cream & take polaramine.

Also the constant change in weather conditions is currently driving my nose batty, one minute it's hot & humid, then it's gone cold again, then it's dry & cold, dry & hot - I'm not used to this kind of weather here in Qld!

I don't garden or do the lawn but my hayfever has been shocking this year too. It's just shocking in the air this year I think.

My suggestion is to start writing down everything you eat and when you do the washing etc. Try and see if it gets even slightly worse at any stage. Or slightly better then back to the same and keep a note of it. See if you can see a pattern.

Could be anything. Even a washing powder/liquid or shampoo you have always used or food you have always eaten.

Where do you live OP? I think I remember you making a thread about this last week and I posted that I was having the same problem.

I ended up going to the ED because the rash got so out of control and I couldn't get in to see a GP. They prescribed Prednisone and it cleared it up really well.

I've been taking prednisone for four days now and no improvement.

I'm in Melb.

The funny thing is, while I am breastfeeding, which I am currently, I don't get hayfever or anything like that. So I haven't noticed any increase in that like I usually would. Though DH and one DD have had it a fair bit lately.

What I have is an incredibly itchy rash that has covered my body and is still spreading. While some parts have started to clear, others have not, and new rashes are occurring! It started on one arm, then went to the other, then one side of my stomach, then the other. Like a mirror. Weird.

You could ask your GP to do a fungal scrape? just in case...

I had terrible rashes for a while, and it causes the pigment in my skin to disappear (sexy, I know) and I just have really, really strong hydrocortisone cream.
