I am just after a bit of what do you think?

I came home after a weekend away and there was an email saying our computer usage was being slowed due to too many downloads. I asked my DH if he knew anything about it and he explained that a friend had been over with his daughter and the daughter had played on the computer(she is 10).

I thought that I would check out what she had been doing to use so much of our downlaods so clicked on the computer history button - please excuse my terminology I know very little about computers. Well the extra sites that had been visited were pornography. But they were visited on both nights that I was away and the little girl was only visiting one night.

My DH explains it by saying he did not visit those sites and that they must have been 'pop-ups' while he was playing games on the internet.

What do you think - do 'pop-ups' that appear while you are on the internet appear on the computers history or do the sites need to be visited before they appear?

On a side note - I would not have a problem with him visiting porn sites it is the fact that I think he is lying to me that I have worries about. Something like this happened once before where downloaded videos of porn on our photo files was found and he swears he never put them there. How I wish I understood computers! sad.gif

No idea really but I would think pop ups wouldn't be classed as a page download.

I think the history depends on your computer. Mine sometimes doesn't register pages I've had open for awhile, but will sometimes register pop-ups. I'd be looking more at how many were listed and if it looked like they were different pages of one site. I wouldn't have thought he'd have encountered many pop-ups normally. Do you often get pop-ups? Most browsers block them.

How much data was downloaded OP?

Just visiting a page, or having a page 'pop-up' doesnt usually use that much data, and even many hours of just reading pages doesn't use that much.

Watching videos usually uses the most data.

Go to the sites that were visited and see if they have a video watching facility.

You'll probably be able to work it out that way.

He's probably embarrassed/ashamed. I would talk to him and tell him what you wrote here; that you don't have a problem with him visiting the site but you would if he was lying to you.

Loving my little princess.....
If I'd been caught looking at porn I'd probably lie too. Does it really matter? He's an adult. You said you'd have no problem with him looking at porn. Its like walking in on him mid w**k. Mortifying.

You away, porn sites visited at night only. I think you need to be st6raight up with your DH that you don't mind overly, but that he needs to be straight up about the porn. It's the only logical answer

Thereby accusing him of lying to you.

You cant win, so if you don't care, let it go. If you're concerned that children may have been exposed to porn, then stress to your DH the importance of the children being supervised when they are on the computer. TBH, it doesn't sound like it was the children though.

Haha - Busted! Poor guy must be so embarrassed. If you go onto your internet account and login you can actually see what the exact usage history for each night is. (if you dont know how to do that, just ring your provider and they will tell you) Looking at webpages doesn't use a lot of data, watching videos and playing games does. Pop-ups should affect it much, if at all.

Just tell your hubby that your fine with him watching porn, but please try and do it at the end of your internet cycle so that you don't have to go through the month with slow browsing speed. Act like you know what your talking about and he'll know that he can't lie to you about it original.gif. I don't think it will need to be discussed further.

I would consider him watching porn, pop ups rarely occurs when visiting genuine sites. He knows you are not good with technology and was hoping that you would stop asking after he told you it was pop ups. So he is lying to you one way or another and manipulating you.
I would take it up with him and not budge, you know what is going on and he is hoping that you will turn a blind eye and he will manipulate and turn it back on you and make it your fault somehow. You really do not want to go through the history list and look at the porn sites he is visiting the fact that he lied is a big enough issue.
I would take up the case in point of lying and manipulation, porn is porn and it is not really a grey area. Ask why he felt the need to look at it and lie to you. Tell him you are not a prude and would appreciate him being open and honest about it. Yes it does not make it ok he viewed porn but understanding why he did it and lying to you is another thing.
Good luck and I hope you can get to the truth and sort this out quickly.
