Would like your opinions/any info you have.

My son is now 3 weeks old, and we decided he wouldn't have the hep b vacc at birth, but would have it at 6-8 week check up.

Well today after discussions with some friends who are mums, we got onto the topic of autism risk. There were mixed opinions, but I heard today that some studies show males are at higher risk of autism!?

Therefore, I'm now wondering whether there is a 'safer' age for vaccinations, or any other info that might put my mind at rest with this whole issue. At this stage, I want him fully vaccinated with the vaccination program, but I'm now a bit scared.

The greatest gift is a passion for reading
There is no link between vax and autism, whoever told you this is wrong.

Congrats by the way.

Only a news article - but essentially Wakefields findings were debunked some time ago. I'm sure there are other members who will be able to post other sources.

There are no studies that show that there is any connection.....in fact the studies refute that suggestion.
Your friends are an example of the frustratingly ill informed and uneducated with regards to vaccination I am afraid.

I believe there is a higher rate of autism in boys but it has nothing to do with vaccines.

There was an interesting segment on a current affairs program (4 corners maybe??) a while back showing a possible link between prolonged use of antibiotics in young children and autism. I haven't looked into it too much and am not sure of the research that has been done am not saying there's a definite link, but there was some evidence of this within the case studies they showed.

There is no link between the two.

If your child is going to have autism they will regardless of vaccination status. Go vaccinate and protect your children from harmful diseases which there is a link between.

Ehill, I had decided I would anyway. I technically have to for him to go to child care so I can return to work. Plus I, along with all of my family have been vaccinated fully. But I'm just anxious now. And I was just thinking whether it's best to wait for a certain age (months etc)

bah humbug

there is no link!

even if there was i would take a healthy vaccinated child with autism over the risk of death with no vaccines!!!!!

i will gracefully get off my horse now....
